All Iris wanted was a normal, boring life. But, when you have a tendency to explode things with your mind, normal and boring things don't tend to attract you. Yet, strange things are happening all around her, and she's starting to think the normal...

"What the fuck happened to your face?" Was the first thing Iris asked as she walked through the door. Steve was the first person she saw, and his face was swollen and bruised. There was blood all over him, yet he was standing there with his hands on his hips and a goofy smile.
"Should've seen the other guy." Dustin laughs, nudging Lucas, who was next to him.
"Why hasn't anyone even tried to clean him up?" Iris sighed.
"It can't be that bad, guys." Steve rolled his eyes.
"What even happened? Did someone else come here?" Iris moved Steve gently, nudging him to sit down on one of the chairs.
The kids all started talking at once, following her and sitting around the table with Steve. Iris tried to listen while she wet a towel in the sink, but the words were blending together.
"Slow down, Dustin, tell me what happened?" She asked, now in front of Steve.
"This might hurt a little." Iris said to Steve, getting deja vu from last year when him and Johnathan got into a fight. There was a very drastic difference between then and now, because a year ago she was scolding him while fixing his face.
She applied pressure as light as she could, cleaning the left side of his face. The blood was dried already, but his face was already a variety of blues and purples. Still, his big brown eyes watched her intently.
Iris didn't look the greatest herself. She hadn't slept in almost a full day, and was exhausted from closing the gate. Her eye bags were prominent against her skin, her usual tanner appearance now much paler and dull. Her eye makeup was smudged slightly, and her shirt had blood stained on the collar.
While she washed his face, Dustin explained what had happened after she left with Eleven. The kids came up with a plan to lure the demo-dogs away from the gate, but before they could leave, Billy Hargrove decided to show up playing big-brother. Him and Steve got into a fight, with vivid descriptions of how Steve was "kicking his ass", but that apparently didn't last long when Billy hit Steve over the head with a plate.
Mike interjected then, coming out from another room in the house with Eleven. Her and Hopper had gotten to the Byer's first, and John went to Hopper's cabin to help retrieve Will. The couple walked out hand in hand, and it put a smile on her face.
"What are you talking about? Steve totally lost." He said, causing everyone to start talking at once, again.
"Holy shit!" Iris threw her hands up, almost hitting Steve in the face.
"Max!" Iris pointed at her. "Please, tell me what happened."
"Well, he was winning." Max said after everyone quieted down. "But he got Steve on the ground and wasn't stopping, so I tranquilized him."
