Chapter 5: The Hard Truth

*Caleb's POV*
"You, you were human? I said
"Yes, I know this is hard to take in but it's true."
"Why haven't you told anybody. Why not your family?"
"I couldn't Caleb, if anybody found out our family would be banished!"
"So your going to lock me away, like some criminal!"
"No, I'm here to tell you you need to get away, you and Mason both. You need to go to Autumn and explain to her what's happened without getting caught then she will reveal to Mason a power he possesses."
"Wait what power does he.."
"I can't say now Autumn will explain everything, now go!"

*Masons POV*
I swam toward the ship with a grin. Yes I am the best mermaid in the ocean, I thought to myself.
"Caleb? Why are you swimming this way!"
"We have to go to your mom no time to explain, come on!" He swam fast past me.
I swam along side him all the way to the secret entrance to the castle. My mom was waiting for us at the bookshelf that way the inside exit for it.
"Mom what's going on?"
"Honey Caleb and I are the only healers in existence and you are the only shapeshifter."
Caleb and I both swam there mouths open.
"I don't understand.." I said
The she explained everything.
"So you saved dad from drowning, because he was human and also a sea fisherman that was in a giant storm that flipped his boat?"
"Yes Mason."
"And I'm the only shapeshifter because I am the only one with only human parent and a mermaid parent that's a healer?"
"Yes"
I started to tear up then
"So Caleb and I have to leave and go to Lake Superior because we'll be locked away if were found."
"Yes Mason, I ...I'm so sorry"
I hugged my mom and then went to get a bag of stuff I wanted to keep.
"I'm going to miss you mom." Said Mason
"I'll miss you to Mason, I love you hopefully I'll see you again." Cried Autumn
"Make sure to let my family know I love them" said Caleb
"I will dear",Autumn said as she wiped at her now redding eyes.
"And Mason you can only transform in water you must hold both hands with the person you're transforming"
I just nodded and Mason and I started our long swim to Florida.
"This is going to be a long swim" said Caleb
"Ya it is" I replied
