I didn't know who would be at school at this time. I gasped. That person was coming in right now.
I leaped into one of the bathroom stalls and quickly turned the lock, as I did that I could hear the door slam open and then the sound of sneakers squeaking across the bathroom floor. I tried to hold my breath so I wouldn't be found. But my lungs burned and I needed to breath.
Something is wrong.
I need to breath.
This isn't right.
Where am I.
I began to get dizzy and nauseous.
I unlock the bathroom door, I have a slight vision of the door swinging open, and I saw the floor hurdling towards my face. While all of the was happening, I know that someone was there because the whole time, in the corner of my eye I saw white NikesThe last thing I remember was the floor hurdling to my face.
~~~
My eyes slowly opened, but everything was blurry and I wanted to go back to sleep.
But then I noticed something.
This is not my room.
I looked around, everything was still blurry. I noticed most of the walls were painted white. I panted trying to breath making sure I was getting the air I needed. But everything seemed to be in my head. I need to go back to sleep. I examined the room for a little bit longer and my eyes were getting heavier and heavier.
Just when my eyes were about to close, I saw a person.
But I couldn't tell who it was.
It was a male, I didn't know how old he was or even who he was.
But the only thing I could see in the blurriness of the world was a wide smile.
It wasn't one of those smiles that people would normally see in the hallway ever morning. It wasn't a smile that you give as an everyday basis.
It was real.
Those smiles that you see on Christmas morning from the entire family no matter how bad everything has been. The ones that make you happy because of how real they look. The ones where you've been working so hard for something and it actually paid off. The ones that shoot up to your face once you see someone you love.
That's what his looked like.
My eyes closed, but what I wanted more than anything, was to open then back up.
Just to see what a real smile was like again.
Those were the kinds of smiles I used to wear all of the time, I guess after life happens you forget the good things.
"You're awake" whispered a familiar voice in the middle of the two words, his voice cracked. I knew instantly who it was, but I didn't have the strength to ask why he was here. I was scared he would give me an answer that I didn't want to hear. His voice sounded fragile and broken. Even though he was still smiling.
But when I didn't answer, I could tell that it faded away.
"Yeah" I whispered back. I was shocked when I heard my voice. Did that really just come from me? The sound was hoarse and quite. Instantly I remembered everything that happened. There was no doubt that I would break down very soon. Thoughts ran through my mind. How my mom would yell at me for coming here. Going back to school for everyone to make fun of me, I was "the joke that thought she was good enough for him". How could I go back to all of these things that I call life. But even though my eyes were still closed I could see the grin appearing on his face because of my reply which seemed like ages ago to me although it was probably just a few seconds.
His smile is the only thing that kept me holding on to hope, but I was starting to slip.
