When I had fallen asleep, it had been past two in the morning. His chest rising and falling at a steady beat helped me relax as well as the drumming of his heartbeat.
Now it's ten thirty, it's pretty late, but I was still so tired. My head was exactly where it was a few hours ago.
"Hey, you awake?" he whispered. His voice startles me, for I didn't know he was awake, his voice was raspy and tired sounding. I was still sleepy so I was a bit disoriented and it took me a second to register that he wanted a reply.
"Um... yeah I'm up" I answered yawning and rubbing my eyes.
I looked up at him just to catch a wide grin to appear on his face which quickly transferred to my face as well.
"Let's go get some breakfast" I said getting up.
He gave me a weak smile but he didn't get up.
"I don't feel very good,"he stated tiredly, "but you can go if you want" he finished, while eyes were still half shut.
"Okay" I attempted being cheerful about it to cover the pang of sadness that hit me. Then he closed his eyes and mumbled,
"I'll see you later"
"Yeah" I said strolling out the door.
I wasn't supposed to be walking without my crutches, but they were really uncomfortable so I just tried to hop on my working leg, stumbling occasionally.
I reached the cafeteria, trying not to trip because of my rapid speed.
I didn't like being there, it was full of sick and hurt people which depressed me, and there were even some who were healthy but they were getting food for someone they were visiting. They all gave me weak smiles, making an attempt to make me feel better.
But the fact that they felt the need to encourage me, discouraged me.
It showed me how weak and vulnerable people thought I was.
I got an egg omlet and cereal and some orange juice on the side. I got the same thing for Marcus and I staggered back to my room.
I made it back to my domain without falling completely, although a few times I did almost end up on the floor.
I walked in to see Marcus asleep and a girl sitting in a chair on the other side of the room.
A strange feeling came to my stomach, I wasn't sure what it was, maybe
Jealousy.
Why was I jealous?
I was scared of loosing something that wasn't mine.
The girl must have heard me coming in, because she turned around to look at me.
A smile spread on her face from the second she saw me, I tried to mirror her action but it probably looked like I had just eaten some old cheese. She giggled seeing my contorted face.
Then she looked down to see my cast and scratches on my arms, she gasped, as if she was shocked even though this is why she came.
"How are you feeling" my closest friend asked.
Lacy was my best friend, but it sounds like she is a big person in my life, which is in fact not true. She was just a person that was nice to me which automatically made her not an enemy, this made her a more important person in school. She talks to me sometimes and she's nice to me and everything, but we never hung out after school.
She sits next to me at lunch, with the group of people in our grade and without friends sit.
I was about to talk to her when an alarm began to sound, all of a sudden, a swarm of doctors flooded the room and surrounded Marcus' bed.
Then two doctors began to yell.
They pushed his bed out the door sprinting, leaving me traumatized.
