"Oh No!" I said when I saw Maya by her locker. It is right across the hall from mine. I tried to run but she saw me. "We'll look who it is." Everybody turned to face us when she said that. I stopped because I didn't want people to think I was chicken.
"Trying to run from me?" Maya questioned me. I thought real hard. "What? No... Of course not.. I just thought it was going to be late for class, you know Mrs. Sadie she doesn't play around," I tried to sound believable. "What a wonderful excuse Kadence. Am I right people?" Maya asked looking around with her hand out. Everybody around us started to clap. "KADENCE!" someone from the crowd shouted. I turned to see my friend Abby.
She maneuvered through the crowd to get to me. "Come on get away from her," Abby told me. Everyone started to scatter when we got out of sight.
Just when we got to class the bell rang. "Hey girls, is everything ok?" Mrs. Sadie asked us. "N-" "Yes why wouldn't it be?" I said cutting off Abby. "You normally come in earlier than this." We sat down while Mrs. Sadie was talking to us. "Everything is just fine," I mumbled. "Are you sure it's ok?" Shawn, the cute boy in my class asked me. I glared at him and smirked a little. "Yes," I said. She glanced over and heads turned. "Find me at recess please?"
"I guess, as long as Maya isn't near," I said making it obvious what it was about.
He slipped a piece of paper on my desk. It was his phone number.
