Chapter 1 Gif V 23 days after Geonosis

Cobb was at his regular post watching out for intruders of course he didn't expect any. This was the 3rd month he had been posted here by the CIS. He was three hours into his patrol and his senses were dulled. He took another puff from his deaths sticks as the wind ruffled through his air. At this point he was more concerned with getting some sleep than keeping watch for intruders. He heard the sound of a blaster before he realized he was hit. He didn't even have time to cry out. His legs gave out from under him and his body crumpled. Copper looked at Dagger and nodded an unspoken show of respect for his vod. Dagger returned the nod keeping to himself the fact that it was a little off. Copper drew his dc 17m and advanced, trudging through the mud. The suck, suck, suck, sound of the mud as he raised his foot to take another step bothered him. The doors of the base were closed. Dagger knelt down and went to work on slicing the doors. Copper kept guard just in case there was someone they missed which he highly doubted. "And.... I'm done" Dagger said as the door opened he stood up and trained his blaster at the door. "Clear," He said before stepping inside. "Alright let's finish this up" Copper said they moved in, trying to clear through the facility quietly. They barely had to make any noise until a droideka rolled into Copper. He grunted and Dagger's shots rang throughout the facility as the droideka was killed. Copper quickly pushed the droideka off of him and shot a b2 battle droid behind Dagger. Dagger turned and threw a grenade at a clump of B1s as the shock rippled through the b1 they were taken out easily. Dagger and Copper continued fighting their way through until they reached the hangar. They nodded and Copper started to rig the ships with explosives while Dagger set mines near the entrances. "This'll get 'em good" Dagger chuckled. "Just make sure to save some for me" Copper said. "Oh don't worry I've made sure to think about you" Dagger said. Copper kept working on the ships and he was on his third ship when the Representative of Gif V accompanied by magna guards. The kithar made a sound of surprise that Copper thought sounded a lot like Mird sergeant Vau's strill. The Magna guards leaped at Dagger and Copper. The representative immediately ran for the ships. Copper grabbed a Magna guards staff and the two wrestled for it, he could feel the Magna guard winning and withdrew one hand. He was flipped through the air over the magna guard where he managed to use his gauntlet blade to stab the magna guard. The Magna guard started sparking and it started happening more rapidly till it exploded. He checked over to Dagger and saw he managed to punch the guard hard enough to send it into one of the mines. It exploded and Dagger turned as the Representative managed to turn the ship engine on. Copper turned and watched as the ship took off. Dagger yelled "He's getting away Copper! you were supposed to-" Copper pulled out a detonator and activated it. The ship exploded, killing the senator. "You were saying?" Copper said calmly. "Shut up" Dagger said huffing. When the adrenaline rush wore out Dagger realized how much his hand hurt and nursed it in his hand. "We should get it looked at" Copper said after using his helmet to see what Dagger was looking at. "I'm fine"  Dagger said quickly letting go of his hand after realizing Copper was looking. "Dagger you know that it's okay to show weakness around me? No one else would know" Dagger looked up at Copper even though he was wearing a helmet he could feel his piercing gaze. "Copper shut up" Dagger said a little more forcefully this time. "Alright alright," Copper said. He knew how far he could push Dagger before things got too heated. "Command this is Copper, we're ready for evac" he had to wait a little before getting an answer. "Alright, CC-4923 we've got a ping on your position just hold on." Copper and Dagger took a seat waiting for the evac to arrive they had a moment of calm, finally. "Dagger what are you listening to?" Copper said when he saw him nodding to the beat. "Dantooine jazz" He replied. Copper, a little surprised by the answer, grumpy, bloodthirsty, temper mental  Dagger was listening to Dantooine jazz? "What?" Dagger said when the pause lasted to long. Copper was saved from having to answer by the evac landing. He sighed and got up saluting as Dagger followed suit. "At ease" general Arlign Zey said a smile on his lips. They both relaxed and looked at Zey. "Mission accomplished" Copper said "the rep has been neutralized" Copper said. "Good job" Zey said. "now get on board" Copper and Dagger quickly followed this order taking a seat in the transport.

   Coruscant, Barracks- 25 days after the battle of Geonosis.

  Copper kept on tinkering with his helmet. There was this annoying ticking sound that wouldn't go away no matter what he tried. He kept on trying and trying but it was no use. The doors opened and Dagger and Copper were in defensive positions but it was just Zey.  They both stood at attention. "CC-4923 and RC-5432 as of late the your shortage of squad members has been noticed and we've found replacements for your old squadmates" Zey said his usual calm and optimistic air around him. Replacements? Did the republic really think about us like this? hey we just lost a commander, no worries we can always just make another! The republic were not gonna replace Cable and Ram that easily. Not if Copper had something to say about it. Zey realized his word choices hurt the commandos and quickly went to take it back. "I'm sorry I didn't mean it like that" Even with the apology the words that just left Zey's mouth still hung in the air. After Zey had decided the pause went on long enough he said something. "Copper, Dagger, Meet RC-13071 Tiller, your new slicer and RC 7268 Ember, he will serve as your explosives specialist" as he said this Tiller and Ember entered the room Copper could tell that they weren't newly bred. Ember had the haunted look of someone that was on Geonosis while Tiller was scanning the room. "Sir, as considerate as the Republic is being me and Dagger work pretty well as a two man squad" Dagger seemed to have approved of his words and nodded. "But commandos were built to work in four man units besides the decision has already been made there's nothing left to do about it" Zey looked apologetic but Dagger looked like he trying very hard not to scoff. "You shall now be reassigned as the unit Jackal squad" Zey said. Copper held in a sigh. So this was really happening? Copper had nothing against Tiller and Ember but they weren't his lost vode. After another one of those long pauses Copper and Dagger both said "yes sir" they didn't feel good about it but it was just how it would be. "Good" Zey said "I'll give you some time to get to know your new squadmates" Zey left the room leaving the commandos to socialize.
