A sigh came out of [y/n]'s lips as she placed her head on her palm, looking at the view outside her window.

It was a good change of scenery, definitely gave her inspiration to complete the book she was writing that was on the white, plastic table. During the summer, [y/n] decided for herself that she would stay in her aunts' place; back in Qingce village in Liyue. To give her aunts company, and to have a change of pace — life just staying in a condominium every day with the same routines was getting a bit... tiring.

It was an afternoon in Qince village, right around 16:30 — the time where the kids went out to play. "Looks like nothing changed, huh." [Y/n] chuckled at the thought, watching the children merrily play outside of her aunt's house.

[Y/n] stood up from the old, wooden chair and went to the kitchen to get some water.

"Oh, [y/n]! You're just in time, come, help me with these groceries." [Y/n]'s aunt, Yiangguang, set all of the heavy bags on the welcome mat as she leaned on the doorframe. The loud voice startled [y/n] — she didn't expect anyone to be back this early.

"Oh, good afternoon. Sorry, I didn't notice you there- of course, let me help you." [Y/n] gently placed the cup on the kitchen counter as she hurried to help her aunt with the heavy things.

"Sorry, [n/n], but I'll have to go somewhere again, just had to rush these groceries back here so you could cook. I still have to help a friend for something." Yiangguang hurriedly said as she looked into her reflection in the mirror, fixing herself and tried to make herself look... presentable. [Y/n] awkwardly stood on the doorframe of the kitchen, until it finally struck her — cook?

"Wait. Cook? Me?" [Y/n]'s eyes widened a bit, she doesn't really mind cooking, but that was just... sudden. She's only ever cooked for herself whenever one of her aunts are in a hurry and has to leave to whatever business they had to attend to, but this was different. "Yes. Cook. You." Yiangguang mocked, taking her bags and hurriedly walking out of the house. "Wait! Why me though? I mean, I don't really mind cooking but-" [y/n was cut off, "Shhh. You ask too much questions, a guest is coming, and I can't cook. You know me. Yuelang can't cook either, she's out for the night. Now, goodbye, and thanks." Yiangguang shut the door.

"Okay... awh, where's Chen when I need her?" [Y/n] pouted, and went back into her (well, guest) room and decided to take a nap, since there wasn't really anything to do at the moment, since it would be too early to cook. She flopped her body onto the matress, and closed her eyes. A faint meow was heard, which alerted [y/n]. Her eyes led to the window, seeing the white cat which she was looking for just earlier, sitting on the window, took a glance at [y/n]'s body that looked so comfortable, and decided to jump off and walked onto the bed. The scene that just unfolded made [y/n] giggle, and hugged the snow-white cat.

She eyed the room, holding the cat on her arms while stroking its back. Ever since she started living here before college, the blue, vintage telephone has always been sitting there, on top of the highest shelf. At first, she never really paid attention to it, because she barely went into the guest room — but when she grew older, and stayed in that room, she always wondered if it still worked. Why it never rang, too. A chord was connected to a socket just beside the telephone, which was really weird. Why would a socket be there, and why place the telephone on that highest shelf, exactly? Maybe... maybe that it was haunted and they couldn't get rid of it. Perhaps... it was placed there on purpose... for display? But if it were for display, why would it be connected? It was meant to be used then, although it seems like it never was.

From all that thinking, the girl's eyes closed shut and drifted off to sleep.

As per the cat... well, when he noticed the girl's slow, steady breathing, it plopped off of the peacefully sleeping body and walked across the kitchen. '[y/n], that girl, didn't even place the goods where it's supposed to' reads the cat's face. He went onto the couch and laid down to sleep as well.

[Y/n] awoke from her nap to see the white cat no longer on the bed. She stretched her arms and went to the kitchen. "Oh no- I forgot all about these... thank the archons nobody was home." [y/n] thought, picking up everything and placing everything in its proper storage. The freezer, the fridge, the counters, the pantry.

It was around 18:00, an hour before dinner. [Y/n] decided that she started cooking now, so first, she took care of the rice and put it into the rice cooker after. She took out some snapdragons, lotus heads and tofu to be cooked into Jewelry soup. Chen smelled the aroma of the cooking from the kitchen and sat on the kitchen counter. [Y/n] noticed and laughed at the cat, "Chen! You can't be here, your fur will get all over the food. I'm pretty sure aunt Yiangguang and the guest wouldn't like that, would she?"

Time passed and the food was almost ready. It was around 18:30 when [y/n] heard a loud knock on the door, which startled her. The girl was slicing the fish, and her finger got a small wound. She winced, "Hold on!" [y/n] shouted loud enough for the people outside to hear, but before she was able to leave the kitchen, the white cat sat on the girl's shoulder. She opened the door carefully, and greeted her aunt and the guest.

"Good evening, aunt Yiangguang and..." [y/n] eyed the tall male, until she thought that it was probably one of her aunt's... what do you call it... 'friend'. He had brown, long hair tied to a ponytail, and was wearing some suit that had the color palette of a cockroach. I don't really get"Zhongli. It's a pleasure to see you." The man said, giving a warm smile, which [y/n] returned. "Please, come in."

The two people went into the house. "This is a nice house you have here. Very simple, and vintage. Reminds me of the older days." [Y/n] side-eyed the man, what did he mean, older days? He looked right around Childe's age, which was pretty young. 'Whatever', [y/n] thought. "Why, thank you!" Yiangguang put a smile from ear-to-ear and tilted her head to face the guest. "I smell something delicious... the smell of Jewelry Soup and Zhongyuan Chop Suey. That is our dinner, yes?"

"Yes. Wow, I didn't know you were able to guess our dinner with just the aroma. Anyway, please follow me to the dining room! The food is almost ready." [y/n] said with a warm, welcoming smile, while the two followed and sat on the chairs on the table. Soon later, [y/n] prepared and placed the cooked food on the dining table and sat with the distinguished guest, Zhongli, and her aunt, Yiangguang. The two were impressed with the taste of the food, "Mmh, [y/n] dear. You should cook more often." Yiangguang said. 'Dear? Since when did she call me that?'

"Aha, thanks." [y/n] gave a warm smile, looking at her aunt. "[Y/n], Zhongli is here to... talk... about... the telephone. In your room. Pretty hard to miss."

[Y/n]'s eyes widened, and felt pretty ecstatic to know why the telephone was there; or its purpose. "I'll take that as a signal to start. Miss Yiangguang, may I?" Zhongli looked at the woman, "Yes, of course, mister Zhongli. Go ahead."
