The New Girl

I can't tell her

Kailtyn POV:

I'm sitting in the car with my friend contemplating the conversation I had with Alexis and I can't complain

What she was wearing, it made me weak in the knees but I had to hold it together

"HEY dumbass, I was talking to you"
I jump at the sudden loudness

"Sorry Sarah, just thinking is all"
"Thinking about that girl you ran into the hall with"
My eyes suddenly widened with a blush on my face

"So someone finally caught your attention I mean, every boy and girl in the school is throwing themselves at you and get you don't bat an eye towards them"
I simply shrug at this

"They don't catch my attention cause I don't like them and you know I wouldn't accept any of the guys anyway, I don't swing that way"

Sarah laughs at my comment
"Well, you gonna tell her"
"Hell no I'm not going to"
"Well why not, you found your girl, what's stopping you from doing that"
"My parents"

I haven't told my parents about my sexuality because I'm worried on how they would react, the fact that I'm an only child makes it more nervous since the attention would be on me

"Kaitlyn I've been to your house for years and I've known you for god knows how long and your parents would be happy for you"
"I know that but I just don't know how to bring it up or how would I even have a conversation with her"

As Sarah drives my car and pulls up to her house, we walk inside, say hello to her parents and walk into her room

"I got an idea, you got a class with her right?"
"Yeah I got I believe 2"
"Well If there's an opportunity to do a project with her, then why not do that"
"Really Sarah, that's just a romance cliche for fanfiction"

Sarah gives me a nasty look
"Sorry for the idea"
I start to laugh at the face she makes when saying this

"Ok I am sorry but it's a good idea but I'm just nervous to talk to her now"
"Well there is another thing"

Sarah reaches into her backpack and pulls out a sheet of paper

"The school is having a carnival near the school in  a few days, you could ask her to join you there"
"But wouldn't that be a date?"
"Kaitlyn it doesn't have to be a date, it's just 2 people hanging out, what's the problem with that"
"But people are gonna be suspicious and ask questions and since she's still new, I don't want to put her in that position"

Sarah sits on the bed with me and puts her hands on my shoulders and shakes me

"Listen Kaitlyn, your just gonna ask her to go with you and hang out with you, if anything happens to her, we both will do something about it"

I smile and it makes me think of a comment
"Maybe she's got a friend for you here Sarah, I mean you like girls too"
"Fuck yeah I do and let's make a deal, if she does have a best friend, I'll talk to her but you have to talk to..... what a minute what's her name?"

I laugh at this as I fall onto the bed, clenching my stomach
"OK OK, I didn't ask for her name so sorry"

I stop laughing and look at Sarah
"Her name is Alexis"
"Ok so you go talk to Alexis and ask about going to the carnival and in return, you'll ask about if she has a best friend for me"
"Ok ok fine, it's a deal"

We shake hands as it signifies a deal
It's kinda our thing, if we make a deal and shake hands, we can't break what we shook on or we have to do whatever the other person wants and if I loose and don't do it, Sarah is just gonna make me ask her anyway

I eventually take my car and drive home and still thinking about how I should talk to Alexis

I mean she's beautiful in every sense of the word, the outfit she was wearing, holy shit if I could just tear them off

NO DO NOT DO THAT

I groan as I walk into my room, ignoring my parents and flopping onto my bed, falling asleep in the process

I slowly get up as I hear a knock on my door and open it to see my dad standing in the doorway

"Dad, what are you doing?"
"I wanted to ask if you were ok, you look like you had something on your mind"

I was now scared, my mom didn't really pay attention to that but my dad did, there's no way I'm getting out of this and I trust my dad 100x more than my mom since my mom has expressed how she feels about same sex relationships

"Kaitlyn, you can't get out of this so please tell me what's going on"
I simply nod as I pull my dad into my room, closing the door behind me

My dad sits on my chair across from me as I sit on my bed

"Well there is something I need to tell you but please don't tell mom, I know how she will react but please don't"
"You like a girl don't you"

.................

"Look, I may not be aware but as soon as you told me not to tell your mom, it was clear but I'm in full support, hell I had a friend back in highschool who was gay and she was my best friend but who is this girl since I know for sure you don't bat an eye to anyone"

I go on for what seemed hours about Alexis

"So yeah, that's who she is oh and her name is Alexis."
"After that you could've started off with her name"

I laugh as I lightly punch my dad in the shoulder and give him a hug
"Thank you so much dad"
"Your welcome and I agree with Sarah, you should talk to her and maybe ask about if she's got a friend"

My eyes widen
"Sarah already talked to you did she"
"Yeah but you should get to bed"

I say goodnight to my dad as I fall asleep ready for the next day to arrive

I walk into school with Sarah next to me as she keeps poking at my shoulder

"You should talk to her"
"How am I supposed to if she isn't anywhere"
She grabs my shoulders and turns me around to see Alexis in all her glory next to her locker and who seemed to be her friend.

"Good luck and ask about her friend, HEY ALEXIS"
"SARAH"
Sarah runs off as soon as Alexis turns towards me, her friend already left so I really had no choice to walk up to her

"Sorry about my friend, she gets over dramatic and I kinda wanted to talk to you"
She closes her locker and turns to me
"What is it, I assumed you'd be busy cause I also wanted to ask you something and it's about something coming up"
