Number Five

A/N: This one is kinda sad. I've never really written anything too sad, but I figured I needed something unhappy. It is the SPN fandom, after all. Happy reading! Also, Cas doesn't have his angel powers here.
(Warning- major character death)

Cas knelt, sitting back on his legs. He was in a small, cold, stone walled room. The dull, grey door was off of it's hinges, and lay askew on the ground. In the doorway, a broken line of salt was scattered; the signs of a meager, desperate attempt at protection. Blood was splattered on nearly every surface, fresh and dripping. Sam's body was slumped against the wall, cold and lifeless, eyes blank and staring. On Cas's lap, cradled in his arms, was Dean, horribly injured, blood coming from his mouth and nose. Cas was sobbing, holding on to Dean as if the man was the only thing keeping him from floating away.
"Dean, don't go, please, please stay with me, Dean.." Cas choked out, his voice cracking and hoarse. Dean made a very feeble attempt at speech, but a garbled groan was all that came. He was quickly fading, this Cas knew, but the angel couldn't believe it. Dean Winchester was his everything, his heaven, his life, his breath, his love.
"Dean, please..." Cas sobbed, "please..." There was nothing Cas could do. The most important man in his world was leaving, and he couldn't do anything to stop it. So he did the only thing he could. He tried to help.
"Hey, Jude.. d-don't make it bad.... Take a sad song.. And make it better.." Cas voice was barely above a whisper, the song more tears and choked cries than words. Still, Dean seemed... More still now. There was less fear in his eyes, and so the angel continued.

"Remember to let her into your heart..then you can s-start to make it better.." At this, Dean's head fell backwards, his body limp, and the last light of his eyes faded into nothingness.
