A/N: Another JIBBS oneshot because I just LOVE them and wished the writer's got them back together or at least kissed before Jenny died but it's a futurefic!. Enjoy Angels.
They're laying in bed wrapped in each other's arms, naked on a Sunday morning.
"Can I ask you something?" The man, Leroy Jethro Gibbs, asks, his voice full of sleep despite being awake for the last half hour. The woman in his arms, his wife, looks at him, her green eyes sparkling like they were the minute they met all those decades ago. "Anything." The woman, Jennifer 'Jenny, Jen' Gibbs, replies as she snuggles closer to him.
"Any regrets?" Is the question that he asks her. Truthfully, he's been wanting to know if she's had any regrets about their relationship for a while.
Jethro hears his wife sigh and knows she has regrets and he can guess what she regrets but wants to hear her say it. He kisses her red and silver hair. "Jen." He prompts her. His wife's voice is a whisper when she finally answers.
"I regret leaving you in Paris with nothing but a Dear John letter in my coat pocket. I didn't contact you for six years, hell I didn't contact you when I became Director!" She says, her voice raising. Jethro rubs his wife's arm soothingly. "Jen, calm down, you can't get too worked up." He reprimands. Jen huffs and he just chuckles at her. He had a feeling that her regret would be about Paris and her leaving him.
"Yes you left me in Paris and yes I was crushed at the time but I knew you'd come back, I just didn't know how long it'd take you." Jethro says to his wife.
Jenny Gibbs wants to cry. She knows her husband loves her with everything he has, of course he does but he's never truly forgiven her for leaving him in Paris all those decades ago, nor had he spoken about how her leaving affected him afterwards.
"Any regrets, Jethro?" She's curious about his regrets, if he has any that is.
"Just one." Her husband says softly before going silent. Jenny looks up at her husband in curiosity. She nudges his chin with her head. "What is it?" She prompts him.
"I...I regret not chasing after you, Jen." He says. Jenny doesn't respond, she just kisses him hard. They pull away from each other, their eyes meeting.
"So, I'll ask again: any regrets?" Her husband asks again. Jenny shakes her head, laughing.
"No, I've not got any regrets." Jenny says softly, shaking her head. Jethro smiles at her.
"Good." Her husband says.
"What about you?" Jenny asks, her grey haired husband smiles.
"Not a one." He replies before kissing her.
