I woke up feeling groggy but giddy as I remembered the events of the night before. I sat up ,yawning as I stretched. I made my way to the bathroom that was right across the hall and brushed my teeth and hair before pulling it up into a loose bun. I went back to the room and saw the Jeff hadn't moved from his sleeping position. I went to the dresser and opened up my drawer grabbing a pair of red skinny jeans and a black tank top. I pulled on my slightly dingy converse on and then grabbed my secondary blue zip-up leaving it open.
I heard a chuckle from the other side of the room after I had finished getting dressed and looked over to see Jeff standing beside his bed with a slight smirk, "I can't believe you looked right at me and didn't notice I was awake, you usually get dressed in the bathroom."
I blushed, "Y-you always have your eyes open, how am I supposed to know your'e awake or not?" I stammered. Jeff made a noise of humorous understanding and grabbed his white sweatshirt slipping it on before walking over, "If you'd just sleep in your clothes like I do you wouldn't have to change."
"That's weird though, why would I sleep in my clothes when I can wear half of the amount of clothing and be extra comfy?" I asked a jokingly. Jeff raised a brow and shrugged. We went down to meet the others and saw Something unexpected. The front door was gone a large hole replacing it. Beyond that the others were fighting with men in blue coats holding electric cow prods and hand guns.
I saw one of the men poke Sally with the prod and then saw Sally fall to the ground twitching until the prod was taken away from her little form. The man scooped her up and started to slink back into the dense forest. I pointed at the man and nudged Jeff, "I'm gonna go follow and see where they are taking her and then I'll get her back and guard their 'safe zone'. You go help out." I quickly said my plan and before Jeff could argue I sprinted off after Sally. I caught up quickly and had to take to hiding in the underbrush. I followed for a while until I saw a large bus with two men in front of it holding hand guns.
The man who had Sally nodded towards the other two and they let him on. He was out of the large vehicle in a few seconds without Sally and then ran off back towards the fight.
I slowly crept around the bus and climbed a tree to get a better way up before silently leaping on top of it. I sneaked over to the side the men were on and began to wish I used two knives instead of one. I pushed the idea out of my head and pulled my knife out of its sheath. I jumped down off of the bus and stabbed on of the men in the back of his neck. The other whipped around aiming his gun at my head and let out a shot. I flinched expecting to feel the pinch and then nothing like I had read in so many books but I didn't.
I heard a deep whine and saw a large four legged figure in front of me. The large red and black figure of Smile stood between the man and my head. He growled loudly and lunged for the man leaving drops of blood from his own wound it took seconds and the man was standing far away a gun pointed at his own head muttering about how he must be crazy before he pulled the trigger. Smile groaned and flopped onto the dirt. My eyes wide I stumbled over to him, "Smile? Are you okay?" I asked fearing the large animal had just gave up his life but I heard him chuckle, " No, I used to be an adventurer like you until I took a bullet to the shoulder... Nah I'm just kidding I'm fine anyways he was gonna die either way so it was less work for me to do it." He stated it like it was no bid deal, "Go get Sally before LJ knows she's gone and goes insane."
I nodded and boarded the bus seeing Sally laid gently onto one of the seats. I checked around for anyone else before picking her up and walking out to Smile. He still hadn't gotten up but he was flipped onto his stomach licking his shoulder. He stood as soon as I came within three feet of him and slightly nudged my leg,"Let me take her you'll tire quickly if you hold her for the whole way back." I shook my head and didn't respond to his request before putting the girl onto my back and sprinting off again.
