The Man And The Conspicuous Lady

CHAPTER 2

*phone chimes*

The notification on Saad's phone was loud enough to wake him up from his sleep. He rubs his eyes to see clearly and takes his phone. A message had popped up from his brother Abdul.
"Hey bro! Wassup? U alr8?"
As Saad reads the message, he realises that it's 8:00 AM and that he's supposed to be at work by 8:30.
"Ohhhhh FFFFFF.....", he jumps off his bed and rushes to the washroom. He barely had time to pray his morning prayer and quickly put on his clothes and rushed out of his apartment. He decided to book a cab since waiting for the bus would be time consuming. The cab arrived and he got in, hoping to reach on time knowing very well he won't.

It was 8:40 AM. Saad was 10 minutes late to his work. And that was alright unless he's caught by his boss, Sheldon. Sheldon is the manager of the department he works in and is known to be the "warden" of the department. He checks on everyone's work and doesn't hesitate even a bit to humiliate the employees working. Everyone tries not to get on his bad side. He even dictates how long an employee must take a break, whether it's bathroom break or lunch break. As Saad enters the building, he carefully looks around to see if his manager was there. Thankfully, he was not and Saad was relieved. As he got to work, his Co worker Nadia came to him.
"Hey Saad! How you doin'?", Nadia said.
"Yeah I'm good. What 'bout you?", Saad replied.
"Yeah, me too. Well......."
"Well....what?", Saad asked
"Well, Sheldon wants to meet you....", Nadia said that with a facial expression showing that Saad was in trouble.
"Ohhhh grrreaatttt!", Saad says with his hands in the air. Nadia gave a guilty smile and said, "yeah I know. Be quick. You don't wanna fall in more trouble."
With a sigh, Saad goes to Sheldon's office being prepared for an earful.

Sheldon was tapping his fingers on the table and just stared at Saad without saying anything. Saad decided to break the silence.
"Sir, I'm extremely sorry for the delay. I actually happened to be at my parents house for an emergency last night which is why I couldn't get enough sleep and-"
"Oh save it.", Sheldon replied. "I'm not interested to hear that fake story. Anyways, that's not what I called you for. I called you because there is a work that I will be assigning to you. You know Yusuf Khan, right? The owner of Yaseen pharmaceuticals?"
"Yeah I heard about him", Saad replied.
"So his wife Farida Akbar wants to purchase a few electronic items from our store for her new house. So you gonna have to go to her place and show her the newest and the most expensive items we have here. Do you understand?"
"Yes I do", Saad said.
"Alright then. You have to be at her place at 6:00 PM sharp. We'll provide you with the transportation so don't worry about booking a cab. Your Co worker Aria will tell you the things Mrs Farida would need so prepare the list of items and make sure to impress the rich wife. If she ends up buying our stuffs, we would gain a good profit and that would also mean that you would receive a good bonus."
"Sure sir"
"And one more thing. This must be the last time that you are late to work", Sheldon said with a cold stare.
"Sure. I'm sorry boss"
"Alright. You can leave. And remember. 6 o'clock sharp at her house. You better not come back without making any sales"
"Yeah, sure boss", Saad says as he leaves the office.
He talks to Aria about the stuffs that Mrs Akbar would be needing and makes a list of all the good and expensive items and collecting pictures of them. He thinks about how to make proper sales to the rich wife and earn that profit.

Soon enough, it is 4:45. And the drive would take him an hour. So the company driver, Kishore informs him that they would have to depart now.

As they are on the way, Saad feels excited as this would be his first big sale if he succeeds but also nervous about whether or not he would be able to make a sale. As Kishore drives down the beautiful road with rows of trees and the perfect glitch of sunlight on its leaves, Saad starts to go back in time and gets flashbacks....memories of those days when he was married.
