"Eleanor," Aveline inquired with a thoughtful tone, "I'm quite curious about your perspective on the matter of marriage. It appears that marriage isn't in your plans, and I'm intrigued to understand your reasons."
During the past few weeks spent at the Hayward estate, Eleanor had grown closer to Aveline. Aveline had assumed a role akin to that of an elder sister, a bond Eleanor cherished. Having a companion, she could consider a friend was a welcomed addition. Yet, Aveline's question caught Eleanor off guard, despite her recognition that Aveline was not one to withhold her thoughts.
"Why this sudden inquiry, Aveline?" Eleanor mused while traversing the estate's corridors, Aveline trailing alongside. She couldn't help but wonder how she had found herself engaged in such a discussion.
"It's mere curiosity, really. You're twenty-three years of age, possessing beauty, kindness, and a multitude of other qualities. However, it's apparent that the prospect of marriage isn't something you entertain. I'm attempting to comprehend the concept of marriage myself, as I remain uncertain about what to anticipate."
Smiling gently, Eleanor turned towards the adjacent doorway of the library as she responded, "Aveline, my dear, please don't burden yourself with such trivial matters. You are a remarkable individual, and in due time, you will discover your own path when the moment is right."
"I'm certainly not looking forward to that," Aveline chimed in with enthusiasm, "but I'm still intrigued by your perspective."
Eleanor had secretly hoped that Aveline had moved past her initial question. However, she realized that she had the prerogative to share her sentiments. As Eleanor began the task of dusting the library, the grandeur of the surroundings put her at ease.
"You have a profound fondness for this place, don't you?" Aveline inquired softly, a fond smile gracing her features.
"Indeed, I do. There's an unparalleled allure to books. They house a treasury of knowledge and stories that offer respite from the confines of reality."
Absorbing her words with a contemplative air, Eleanor turned her full attention toward Aveline. "Aveline, I've endured my share of pain – in various ways. Yet, this doesn't render me a victim. I've consistently rejected the notion of being pitied. However, entrusting someone with my feelings and confidence is an arduous task. It's so challenging that, at times, I find myself questioning whether I can ever stand beside another person without the haunting fear of betrayal overshadowing everything."
Aveline began to offer an apology, but Eleanor's response interjected, her smile gentle yet resolute.
"Please, there's no need for apologies. I don't view this reality as a tale of sadness or desolation. Rather, these are the trials that sculpt us into better individuals – ones endowed with increased resilience and empathy."
Eleanor paused briefly, collecting her thoughts before continuing. "Allow me to impart something to you, Aveline. As you journey through life, you too will encounter challenges. And when those moments arise, I want you to discover your inner strength. It doesn't imply that you cannot display vulnerability, but remember, all things pass with time. You will acquire the wisdom to summon a smile, even when the world feels askew. It's at that juncture you will realize that you have emerged triumphant."

Noah found himself struggling to keep pace with the enormity of what he had just uncovered, and a simmering anger took root within him. He was acutely aware that the pain she had experienced ran far deeper than the glimpses she had shared with his sister.
Seated within the confines of the library, Noah inadvertently became privy to their conversation. A part of him contemplated an exit, yet as Aveline dispensed her sagacious advice, her words resonated with an uncanny relevance to his own circumstances.
