The university campus was alive with the excited chatter of students, the air buzzing with the anticipation of the upcoming Christmas break. Final terms had come to an end, grades were out, and the atmosphere was a mix of relief and celebration. As the students gathered to capture memories before their holiday, Youn-Jung walked towards Jung-Ha, a gift clutched in her hand.
Approaching him with a smile, Youn-Jung was met with a somewhat gloomy expression on Jung-Ha's face. She stopped in front of him, her enthusiasm momentarily dampened by his mood. Jung-Ha looked at her and hesitated for a moment before speaking.
"Youn-Jung, can you wait for me for a bit?" he asked, his tone serious.
Youn-Jung blinked in confusion, her brow furrowing slightly. "Sure, but... why? Is everything okay?"
Jung-Ha's gaze was earnest as he nodded. "Yeah, I just need to do something real quick. I promise I won't take long."
Youn-Jung gave him a puzzled smile, trying to read the situation. "Alright, I'll wait for you here."
Jung-Ha managed a faint smile in return, appreciating her understanding. With a determined look, he turned and headed towards the faculty building, leaving Youn-Jung in the hallway, curious and intrigued.
The university campus was bustling with the excitement of students as they celebrated the end of the semester. Amidst the festive atmosphere, Jung-Ha approached the faculty office, a determined look on his face. Just as he was about to knock on the door, the handle turned and the door swung open, revealing In-Sung. In-Sung, on his way out, looked surprised but offered a warm smile to his student.
"Hey, Jung-Ha," In-Sung greeted, sensing the seriousness in Jung-Ha's expression. "Is there something you need?"
Jung-Ha nodded and hesitated for a moment before finding his voice. "Can we talk, Professor In-Sung?"
In-Sung nodded in agreement, guiding Jung-Ha inside the office. They settled by the window, the fading light casting a warm glow on the scene.
Jung-Ha took a deep breath, his emotions swirling within him. "I found out something recently, something that I never thought I would ask or need to know," he began, his voice steady but his eyes revealing his inner turmoil.
In-Sung understood the weight of Jung-Ha's words. He listened in silence, his heart heavy with the knowledge of what was to come.
"I want to thank you, Professor," Jung-Ha continued, his gaze meeting In-Sung's. "Thank you for being my teacher, for inspiring me, and for being there without even knowing it."
In-Sung's eyes welled with tears, understanding the depth of the conversation that was unfolding.
Jung-Ha's eyes glistened as he managed a small smile. "Merry Christmas, Professor In-Sung."
Before In-Sung could respond, Jung-Ha rose from his seat and left the office, leaving In-Sung overwhelmed by a whirlwind of emotions. He couldn't let Jung-Ha leave like this, so he called out his name and hurried after him.
"Jung-Ha!" In-Sung called, catching up to him just outside the office.
Jung-Ha turned around, his expression a mixture of vulnerability and strength.
In-Sung took a step closer, his voice laced with remorse. "I'm sorry, Jung-Ha. I wish I had known sooner."
Jung-Ha looked into In-Sung's eyes, seeing the genuine regret and emotion there. Without a word, he closed the distance between them and embraced In-Sung tightly. Tears welled up in In-Sung's eyes as he held onto Jung-Ha, his shoulders shaking with the weight of his feelings.
