**Benedict's age is tweaked to be younger but no specific age is mentioned**

Imagine being born into the London regency society, only to move away at a young age. But after being away for nearly a decade you and your family return and you are reunited with a childhood crush.

The Bridgerton family home was buzzing with excitement. The spring flowers were in bloom and the members of the ton were descending upon London for the start of the season. The beginning of the season brought the most nerves. With the lingering question over who was

going to be declared as the queen's diamond.

This was a special season for the Bridgertons. They were not presenting a daughter seeing as it was Eloise's turn the previous summer and Francesca wasn't of age.

But they did have two brothers, Colin and Benedict who were unwed. Colin was their main concern as a family seeing as he was completely in love with the youngest Featherignton daughter but he just hadn't realized it yet. Everyone saw it and it was only a matter of which

season he would finally confess his love to her.

But Benedict, on the other hand, was a wild card.

Having his fair share of short-lived flings during the past several seasons he always ended up alone when the fall months came.

His brothers always teased him when he would come back to the family home after an affair.

They gave him advice on what women of the season would suit him best.

But at the end of the day, none would satisfy him. No one could match the woman he compared them all to.

"Brother are you attending with us?", a small voice asked.

Benedict had been lost in his thoughts about the upcoming event and was only brought back to reality when Hyacinth tugged at his suit jacket. She looked up slightly to him in adoration as she spoke to her older brother. Benedict forgot the previous dilemma he was trying to solve in his head as he smiled at his youngest sister.

"Of course my darling sister. We must make haste", he replied, sending her a wink.

Benedict linked his arm under his sister's elbow and the pair quickly descended out of their London home. After Benedict made sure his sister made it comfortably into the carriage with her mother and sisters, Benedict hopped onto his own horse, sending a nod to his brothers who had been waiting for his arrival.

Anthony and Colin sent their brother a questioning look for his tardiness but chose not to press, to not upset their mother over any further tardiness.

-------------------

Waiting for the prospects of the season to be presented was incredibly dull and Benedict Bridgerton thought that he might perish if he had to wait one more moment for the event to commence.

His head lolled backwards slightly but he quickly shot up when he felt a poke in his ribs. Facing upwards he was met with a scowl from his eldest brother. Finding amusement in his brother's reaction Benedict wanted to push the limits but quickly straightened up when the declaration from the queen's guards began.

Not paying much attention to what was happening around him Benedict focused on keeping his face to look as if he was enjoying being there. Even though he was in a great deal of pain. He had to watch these young girls be paraded around by their entirely too-happy mothers. None of them were going to catch his attention and he knew that. He didn't need to see how well they impressed the queen. He had one woman in mind that was his, even if he couldn't have her.
