MELBOURNE
november 2022

*ੈ✩‧₊˚ THE FIVE stages of grief hit sam kerr hard the following day, anger being the main sense of emotion that lurked around the twenty nine year old. she wasn't sad, she was crying over odessa, she was angry at kat.

she kept a blank face on during training, she didn't speak to anyone. secretly, she planned every single way kat buckley could die an insanely painful death, none in which resulted in sam being anywhere else but in a jail cell.

her thoughts covered her mind, she kept replaying the moment. how odessa's mother, stood there, in sam's apartment, piercing through the heated heart of odessa buckley. leaving the girl stranded and hung up to rebuild herself.

sam tied her pair of hot pink shoes onto her feet, sitting in the girls locker rooms right before her game against usa. she was not in the mood to face them, she couldn't be bothered to see her ex-girlfriend, kristie mewis on that field. she didn't want to play that day, not unless those undeniable gorgeous eyes were painted on her body. and not a single soul even knew if odessa was still in melbourne. not even kyra with her stupid snapmaps.

ellie crossed her arms, watching her captain with observant eyes. trying to work out what exactly had caused sams recent anger. she knew who had caused it, but not just how. why.

"dude, the hell is up with you?" hayley spoke up, asking the question every single girl in that room wanted to know "you look like you're about to knock the head off the next person who pisses you off."

"nothing. . ." sam trailed off "i just want to win today"

"you always want to win" mary pointed out "you've been different lately, like dude. you look at kat like you're about to kill her whenever you see her—"

"oh my god" ellie screamed, jumping up and down in joy "you and odessa are—"

"—were" sam corrected. they were once something, things had fallen apart, they had fallen apart.

"wait.  .  . what happened between you two?" katrina questioned, taking a seat beside her team captain "you guys were so happy, even before this secret relationship you decided to keep from all of us."

"not all" kyra spoke up with a proud smile "i knew."

"what?" ellie screeched loudly, her jaw has dropped completely "you knew and i didn't?"

"who do you think got them together?" kyra rhetorically questioned "helen and i had too, because they were both major pussies and sam left odessa right after a fight and flew back to melbourne."

everyone's heads snapped back to sam. "you did what?" katrina asked "samantha, that's the biggest no-no in any relationship."

sam groaned, frustrated. she dug her nails into her head, intertwining her fingers with her hair. "i know, but that was way before we got together. and i didn't leave her because i wanted too. i'm sorry that i walked away because she basically turned around and said we couldn't be together because her fucked up mother always has to have a say in things."
