Melody:
I woke up this morning feeling really well rested again, but all I wanted to do was talk to my family. Guess I should get use to this though.
I mean I love my dress that I picked but it's not a real real wedding. And I don't think it will ever be real. But this is my life now
Guess I have to except that.
I decided to get up and take a bath, a long but nice one. I got dressed and headed downstairs. I felt like paining.
I always loved painting, it was one of the things that brought me joy living a very complicated life in the mafia. My mom taught me when I was younger.
I decided to go into a empty room downstairs and asked one of the maids to get me my art supplies. It was one of the things I made sure they brought from the house.
I set everything up in there and started to paint. I didn't have a vision I just painted whatever my heart felt.
I was probably in there painting for 7 hours before a maid came down to let me know Tristen was home and that dinner was almost ready.
I reluctantly finished my last touch and headed up stairs, right as I was about to turn the door nob on my door I heard cursing coming from the hallway. I turned around to see Tristen angrily hanging up the phone.
"Is everything alright? " I asked him reluctantly, not sure I wanted the answer . He looked at me hesitantly as if he was wondering if he should tell me.
"It's just business stuff" he's says, after a few moments of silence before hitting the wall with his fist making me jump back. "we got word of another invasion and four of our men went down" he spoke softly, you could hear the vulnerability in his voice.
I felt bad. I actually felt bad with him, I had dealt with mafia stuff like this multiple times but I could see the sadness and guilt in his eyes.
I didn't even realize I had put my hand on his arm until I felt his muscles tense up. We both looked down at my hand and paused for a moment. he moved a step towards me.
I moved back and let my hand go from his arm. He looked at me and said " I'm sorry I-" I started "it's alright" he said quickly cutting me off. "I should be getting ready for dinner now " I said quickly practically running in my room.
That was the first time Tristen and I got close it was strange but it also kind of felt right. I don't know I've been huffing paint fumes all day.
I took a shower and got ready for dinner. I wasn't sure who was going to be at this dinner but I knew I had to dress business.
I put on a dress and headed downstairs. Sitting at the kitchen island was a bunch of women, a few talking to other guys. As I went more downstairs I saw a bunch of men sitting in the living room.
"Finally you've joined us" I hear Tristen say. "These are my men, and there wife's" he said pointing to the living room and kitchen.
"Hello I'm Melody" I said very quietly. "Speak up sweetie" Tristen said while putting his arm around my waist. I looked at him shocked for a moment and then turned back to everyone and smiled.
Tristen lead me to the kitchen and introduced me to the woman and quickly turned away to the living room.
"And here we thought Tristen would never settle down!" One of the women said, clearly drunk. The other women laughed except one "Hey don't say that! But she's kind of right you must be a special person" She said very kindly. "I'm Lucy, my husband is close with Tristen" Lucy said shaking my hand.
We all talked for awhile before the boys came back into the kitchen and we all sat down at the table for dinner.
It was a long dinner, mostly talk of mafia business and stories. It was nice to feel included, but I also realized this was going to my life. A mafia wife was my new duty.
Everyone eventually left and I was in the kitchen cleaning. I know we had maids but it was a lot of dishes to clean up. I was just about to start mopping when I heard footsteps behind me.
"What are you doing?" I hear Tristen say behind me. "I'm just picking up a bit, it's a-lot of work for the maids to do alone" I said.
Tristen came up from behind me and grabbed the mop. "Don't worry about them, they get paid to do that" Tristen said softly by my ear, making me get goosebumps.
He moved the mop and put it away before coming back up to me. "Who are you?" He asked me. "What?" I said with a slight laugh. "I mean what do you like, what are your hobbies?" He said. "Well I love to paint and I love reading, really anything creative" I told him
"That's impressive" He said to me. "What do you do? You know besides the mafia?" I teased him, genuinely curious though . "I work out a lot, I like to cook to, I don't have time to do it a lot but I'm pretty good at it" He told me. "Really? You should cook for me soon" I said. "What do you like?" He asked me. " I love pasta!" I told him happily. " I'll make you pasta tomorrow night" He said to me.
I smiled, a real smile. "Your smile is so pretty" he said getting closer to me. "Thank you" I said looking up at him who is now right in front of me.
I took a step back for a moment "I should be getting some sleep now" I said quickly. " Tristen smirked also stepping back.
We walked up the stairs together and he said good night to me at my door. I got ready for bed and watched a movie. Before I knew it I was asleep.
