It's been a few days since the fight with the dark riders. And since Katja saved you. You couldn't get it out of your mind. This feeling.. it's new.. and unknown.. Did you like Katja? That was impossible, right? You were a soul rider, and she was a dark rider. Why would you like her. You were supposed to hate her. But you never really did. Every time you had to fight against the dark riders, you made sure you were taking on Katja. And you always went easy on her. You buried your face into your pillow once again.

You were lying on your bed. Alone. Thinking about Katja. And when they fled, she looked back. You were sure of it. But why? Did she like you as well? If she did, she definitely didn't show it. With her cold and emotionless attitude. Ugh. She was so annoying sometimes. But so pretty. Especially her eyes. Her cold, grey eyes that matched her hair color perfectly. You wondered what she'd smell like. Did ice have a scent? You frowned. This was weird. You really hoped this wouldn't be one of those enemies to lovers tropes. Though you didn't really care, as long as you could be with her. Wait, what? Hold up now. Not so fast. You sighed. You really had to do something to get your mind off of it.

Just as you had decided to go on a relaxing trail ride through hollow woods with y/h, someone knocked on your door. You rushed to open it and were surprised to see who knocked. "Y/n? I think you lost your necklace during our battle.." Katja's cold voice pulled you back to reality. You looked at your necklace, that Katja was actually wearing right now. "I wore it so I wouldn't accidentally lose it, I hope you don't mind." You were almost certain her voice was a little softer than usual now. But just as she was about to take it off and hand it to you, you interrupted her. "Thank you, I appreciate it, but you can keep it. It looks better on you." There was a slight hint of surprise visible in Katja's eyes and her cheeks had a little bit more color than usual, it seemed as if she didn't really know how to react to that and just walked back to her horse, Mortifa.

As soon as she had ridden away, you closed the door and ran back to your bed to scream into your pillow. "What the fuck just happened?!" Welp, you had just given away your necklace to your enemy. Or crush? Who knows. It did look better on her though. That's for sure.

But, you still had to exercise y/h. So off you went, to the stables. Y/h happily trotted to you from the other end of the field. You took them inside and gave them a really good, long grooming session. It was a great way to bond more with your star breed and also just to clear your mind. You tacked up and decided to ride bitless today.

The ride was very relaxing and you completely forgot about Katja. Both you and y/h really enjoyed it and you made the mental note to do this more often. Due to all your soul rider duties you barely had any free time, and though you enjoyed it most of the time, sometimes you'd just wish to have a little more time for yourself. Around halfway through your ride in Hollow Woods, you stumbled upon a nice spot where people usually stop to picknick. You had actually taken some snacks with you, just in case, and you decided to stop and have a little break. Y/h seemed to like the idea as they happily snorted. Y/h grazed a bit as you ate your snacks and enjoyed the view. Even though y/h was a star breed, they didn't talk as much as the others. But you didn't mind. The connection you two had was beyond words.

You turned your head slightly to look towards Valedale village. You watched as the cows happily laid in the sun, ruminating the grass they ate earlier. The horses of the people from Valedale village on the other hand were busy running through their fields, you chuckled quietly at the sight.

After your little break, you hopped back on y/h and continued your trail ride. The forest was beautiful and lush, and you were so happy that Jorvik was such a clean place. Aside from all the horse poop of course. But even that always gets cleaned up quickly and it's the main fertilizer for the soil here.

After a relaxing 2,5 hour trail ride you and y/h returned to your stable. You tacked them off and thanked them for the nice ride. You bring them to the field before deciding to muck out the stalls.

It was already dark when you returned home, you plopped down onto your bed and immediately fell asleep.
