Stefan Salvatore was rather eager to step foot in his hometown of mystic falls. It had been a while. The last time he was in this place it was 1994.

Returning home filled him with guilt to see his only surviving relative Zak Salvatore, a distant nephew, 4 generations along.

Coming back to mystic falls brought alot of guilt to Stefan, and somehow he found himself stood outside a nearby kill shelter for dogs.

Unsure of what he was doing he marched in seeing row upon row of cages with many breeds. Mostly shepherds and cross breeds.

His special hearing heard small cries and whimpers coming from a certain cage, most dogs were doing the same but this one caught his attention.

When he arrived at the small cage he saw a man holding a small pup by the scruff of the neck as it let out strangled cries, "Times up little fella."

Stefan darted forward and began to ask the man questions to which he had no choice but to answer with complete honesty, "Where are you taking this pup?" He asked.

"Round the back, it's been here too long, it needs to go." The man responded harshly.

"Why? And how long has she been here?" Stefan continued.

"Because no one is gonna want it, been here for a week not one person has stopped by for it, wasting space." The man responded.

"Well that's funny because I think I might adopt this dog, can I have the forms?" Stefan smirked carefully taking the pup placing her gently in his arms.

The man scurried inside gave a form and allowed Stefan to sign it.

As you can imagine when Stefan returned home to Zak he was rather surprised in seeing a small pup with him.
