At 9 months old I remained happily in my inside of my crate, sure the door was open, was I being forced to stay here, nope.
It felt more like a safe place, or if I wanted alone time I'd just settle in here, Stefan understood that and was happy to leave me to it.
However that wasn't the case one day when Stefan came rushing home and started shouting and fighting with his brother Damon. Why, I had no idea.
I remember hearing something about Zak, I hoped he was okay. Saying that I hadn't seen him myself in a while, I wonder where he went.
Stefan came storming in the house, attached a lead to my collar and called me after him as he hurried outside to his car.
He opened the door and wasted no time in telling me to get in, instead he lifted me up and put me in the passenger seat before getting in the drivers seat.
He started the car up and sped down the drive away from the house. "I'm sorry it has to be like this Nala, but I will come back for you. It's just not safe for you at the minute to be around while Damon remains reckless and stupid as always."
I tilted my head in confusion, "I don't understand. Where were we going, and what did he mean but I wasn't safe round Damon, we okay friends."
Stefan gently stroked his fingers through my fur and I nudged his hand concerned, what was happening.
After about an hour's drive the car finally stopped and Stefan found himself outside Tyler Lockwood's mansion.
Grabbing my lead he knocked on the door, being greeted by Carol Lockwood Tyler's mother. Stefan had managed to get her off vervain a couple weeks before having had Damon come back so he compelled the woman.
"You thought you heard scratches on the door you found yourself grabbing the leash of a small german shepherd, you worried for her and decided to take her in, from then on you will look after her the very best you can and you will not loose her. When I come back for her you will happily give Nala back to me, but for now I need you to forget everything that just happened, I was never here and this conversation didn't happen." Carol closed her eyes and in those next few moments Stefan vamp sped off to his car taking off out of sight.
Carol looked down, to see as Stefan said a small German shepherd, she grabbed the end of my leash and walked me in.
Almost immediately I could sniff out a scent I recognised, one of Stefan's so called "friends".
"Mom, why is there a dog in our house?' A young boy called running down the stairs.
"Because she was out there all alone and I just couldn't leave the poor thing out there I worried for her so, meet Nala. Nala meet my son Tyler."
I carefully shuffled towards him making sure to be cautious, before gently nudging his hand with my head.
Tyler was a teenage boy who must go to school with Stefan. Although, he smells weird, almost something non human. Oh well probably nothing.
I skidded along the wooden floors, darting up the slippery, steep steps, viciously taking in the new scents of the house.
After a while I ended up curled up under Tyler's bed gnawing on one of the wood floorboards that was sticking up. I snapped a chunk of sending it skidding across the room.
I bark in surprise and chase after it, knocking it with my paw sending it crashing into a leg. I look up and see Tyler, "If you're gonna be in my room, you can't trash anything little pup. As cute as you are, I won't hesitate to kick you out."
