Never would I've imagined that it would all just happen like that. Thinking back it was the most unpredictable outcome that I could ever have envisioned.
It all started a few weeks before Christmas break.
I was walking home a cold evening after I collected my hamster from my aunt's home. They had so graciously agreed to look after him for me when I went somewhere with my friends over the weekend.
I've to admit that that was very sweet of them, I wouldn't have trusted my little Hamtaro with anyone else. I had missed the little creature all throughout break and had decided to pick him up immediately upon my return a few hours ago. You see, he was more than just a pet, friend or even family. He was my loyal sidekick and we've been together for as long as I can remember and I loved the little guy to bits.
Anyway, moving on, I was happily skipping towards the bus stop and-okay that was a total lie. The truth of the matter was that I was freezing cold so I was doing this awkward brisk walk looking like I had peed my pants. Hamtaro was pressed to my chest, as I cuddled him in my scarf, in a pathetic attempt to keep him warm. And let me just tell you I was failing miserably.
When I reached the bus stop I brightened up in relief as I saw the bus approaching and I couldn't have been more grateful.
Finally! Now I could go home and have a nice warm bath to soak my bones or just get to the warm walls of my home. Just the thought of it was very uplifting.
I brought my frozen hand to my pocket to take out my purse which contained my bus card. I fumbled with it, my hands useless due to the intense cold which was not cool. Actually too cool. Damn I can't believe I'm making a pun out of this.
In my awkward attempt to get my bus card before the bus arrived (thank god no one was around to see me) my purse flew out of my hands landing a few meters away from me. I pulled my mouth downwards in distaste not fancying having to bend down with this bundle in my arms to pick it up and the fact that I detested physical activities didn't help one bit.
To my surprise and utter embarrassment as I learn later on, someone else bended down to retrieve it before said person straightened up and handed it back to me with a smile. "Here you go."
As his voice reached my ears I could already tell what kind of person he was. The easy going talk to all kind of person type. The type that befriended everyone they meet.
He grinned at me. "You looked like you were in trouble."
I so politely took what was mine with a polite 'thank you' ignoring the awkward atmosphere I felt by completely disregarding his comment. Gosh I feel horrible but I don't want to say anything! I mean I'm not the most awkward person in class for nothing.
Ignore it all! I thought as I once again fought against the purse to get my bus card. I couldn't get home without it after all.
"Oh you're from IB, right? I know I have seen you somewhere before." In that moment the bus decided to stop in front of us bathing us both with its merry light and illuminated my dumbfounded expression.
"Excuse me?" Came my skeptical reply. IB was my current learning program and unless this guy was from my school he shouldn't know. Unless ... He wasn't a stalker.... was he? To be honest the mere idea creeped me out that I had half a mind to just run off and hope he wouldn't follow.
The bus doors opened, its light flashing blinding me, he just stood there with a light chuckle. "We go to the same school same program."
I was about to give a blunt reply that I neither knew of him nor ever seen him before today when the bus driver suddenly spoke up, asking whether we wanted to get on or not. I of course took this opportunity to get away from the awkward encounter but it wasn't so easy.
