Nothing Is Easy

The rest of the train ride took about ten minutes and during those ten minutes we just sat in absolute silence.

The silence comfortable because Marcus just leaning back in his seat and closed his eyes. Seeming to be at complete ease. Whereas I just sat there shifting awkwardly in my seat. Ever since meeting him we hadn't gone that much without talking and it just didn't feel right.

I know I know, I've known him in less than two days but still to me that is enough to judg- eh... I mean get to know a person.

Besides I'm just not the kind of person who can go so long hanging out with someone I don't know for no apparent reason so I hope you're getting where I'm getting at.

Well that was certainly one of the reasons why I wasn't liking to be left to my own devices. The second was ... well... I kinda started checking him out.

Argh! I do know it was shameful of me but seriously he just sat there dozing off like he was practically asking me to ogle him. It. Was. All. His. Freaking. Fault.

All. His.

It was so frustrating. I mean the guy had the silkiest hair without even trying and his face was just Argh!

Okay I know I'm not making any sense anymore so I'm just going to forget all about how lusciously-stop! No more. No more I swear.

I swiped out my phone as I decided to use it as a distraction but I still couldn't help stealing glances at the specimen that was sitting across from me. I was doing just that when suddenly I locked eyes with the specimen himself.

I paled in shock and my grip tightened on my phone so hard that my hands actually starting shaking and I'm pretty sure I heard the distinct sound of my phone case breaking.

Marcus blinked probably blinking the light of his eyes and I immediately relaxed realizing that maybe just maybe I wasn't bursted.

"Were you just staring at me?" Or May not.

Marcus mouth curled up in a smile and for once I actually had a comeback. "You're drooling."

Startled, his hand immediately went up to his face to search for his nonexistent saliva. I covered my mouth with my hands to suppress my usual boisterous laughter feeling good that I finally had the upper hand. He always seemed to one up me. Bastard.

Forgetting about his drool he suddenly stared at me making me feel self conscious. I stared back not backing but then he said something completely unexpected. "You shouldn't have to hold your laughter in. You shouldn't mind anyone especially me."

I felt like he had seen right through and the fact of the matter was that what he said was completely true.

A 'friend' once told me that my laughter was unsightly and way too loud. Ever since then I've never really been able to laugh around people or enjoy myself freely in settings other than my home. Her comment was a huge blow to my already fragile self confidence and I have never felt the same way about the once simple joyful act that was laughing.

"We're on public transportation," I defended weakly. "I just don't want to be rude."

"If you say so," he replied dubiously as he looked out the window and I felt for a moment that he was avoiding my gaze which made my chest hollow for a moment but that moment was quickly gone when he turned to meet my eyes. "You know you look quite interesting when you're stiff with embarrassment, I kinda like it."

I covered my reddened cheeks with my hands as I glared at him. Why was it I blushed so much easier than other people? Argh!

Marcus chuckled and I glared daggers at him. This was so not appreciated.

He leaned over the small table that was separating us and outstretched his hand to my face. I evaded his advance and hissed. "It's not funny."

For some reason he looked quite dejected. So he did have feelings after all. I thought for a moment that he was no more than a fur ball of sass.

"Forget it," he said gaining that all knowing oh so annoying smile. He muttered something incoherently the only thing I could catch was: "with time."

I arched my eyebrows at him in a questioning manner. His smile turned smug which irked me instead of answering my question. "You'll know with time."

I couldn't tell if that was what he muttered to himself before or if it was simply an attempt to dodge the question but I never got around to asking as the train slowly came to a halt.

I was far too busy trying to get off the train that I completely or almost completely forgot all about him. But of course forgetting someone when they are pressed up against as you fight your way out of a train wasn't quite that easy.

As I finally broke out the suffocating nightmare that consisted of people's lousy breath and lousy I was more than happy to get the hell away from him. That guy was just trouble.

Of course he resolved to gripping the straps of my backpack to stop me from getting away. Rude much?

I whirled around in my heels almost slapping him in the face with my ponytail but alas he swerved to the side successfully dodging it. I wouldn't have minded it if it had made contact. "What?"

"Why're you in such a hurry?" Marcus asked smiling goofily. "Let's walk together."

"Don't you take the bus?" I asked skeptically.

The school was a fifteen minute walk from the station and it was here the students split into two groups: those who were too lazy to walk the distance and take the bus, and those who weren't as lazy and embraced the cold and they walked the distance. I of course was part of the latter. Eh, don't be surprised.

"You don't?" His eyebrows knitted together in disbelief. "I'm sure I saw you on the bus once."

"That was one time," I retorted. "I'm not so lazy that I would take a bus when I can just walk."

"Says the person who rides the elevator from the lobby of the train station to the train platform," he accused and I must admit that he was right on the money.

My cheeks felt uncomfortably warm. "How do you know? Have you been stalking me?"

"I saw you do it this morning," he nonchalantly replied like that was any less creepier. At least not to me.

"So what?" I challenged. "I was drowsy and couldn't be asked to walk up those stairs and fall over backwards and hit my head. Besides I've been walking to my school since like forever."

"Even in the winter?"

"Even in the winter."

"Well rejoice then," Marcus grinned broadly. "Because I'll walk with you today."

I sighed. Did this guy really need to be so difficult? He was really persistent.

"Sorry but I'm reserved," I replied wearily. "I always walk with my BBF."

His smile immediately turned up side down. "You do?"

"Yeah and she's already left assuming I wasn't showing up," I said. "Thank you very much."

I turned on my heel when my phone let out a distinguished ring alerting me that I got message. I fished out my phone to check it out as I walked.

Marcus walked next to me to shoulder with a pouty expression. "Too bad."

I rolled my eyes finding him really annoying as I opened who appeared to be from Sabrina my BFF.

'Darn! I missed the train! Tell the teacher for me please!'

I cursed internally and Marcus read it over my shoulder upon seeing my sour expression. He grinned.

"Let's walk, shall we?" He said goofily as he held the door that led into the lobby open for me. Knowing that I had no excuse for rejecting his offer seemed to thrill him.

Being my stubborn self I ignored it and just scowled at him.

"Do you know how rude it's to read messages on someone else's phone?" I scolded walking briskly through the door determined to leave him behind.

Of course it wasn't that easy. Nothing was that easy with him.
