Introduction

Kayla Pov

I wake up to the sound of mom and dad shouting.

I groan "Fuck...my life"

"...Cause that's all you care about. I am the one who does everything for you and this is what you do!" mom shouts.

Confused, I sit up to listen.

"Well guess what Crystal! I have provided for this family and I'm sorry if she makes me happy. All this family has given me is nothing but despair, and I refuse to spend the rest of my life as miserable as you!"

My parents never fight, yeah a few disagreements here and there but nothing serious... And this, this was as serious as it gets. I immediately get frightened at the sudden outburst

"Is this what you're going to do? Leave us just like that. Your kids Steven! Did you even think about them, huh? Did you?!"

"It's not like I wanted them in the first place"

He says softly but loud enough for me to hear.

Suddenly it goes quiet.

I hear footsteps descending.

I rush out as quickly as I can and stop at the end of the stairs, he sees me, duffel bags and suitcases surrounding him.

With mom standing at the top of the stairs.

He looks at me from the kitchen and says "I'm sorry buttercup".

"What do you mean!" I shout

"Don't run after me" he says this time with no empathy while taking his keys then practically runs out the door

"Then don't say things you don't mean" I say in a soft voice

Dad never loved me in the way I needed. He is...or was a good dad. But there always were more downsides than up. A part of me is glad he left. But then why do I still feel pain.

I cry on the floor as mom comes down as I ask "Did he really just leave?"

She says nothing and just holds me. As she ends up sobbing along with me.
