That kid(Poem1)

I used to think life would be all rainbow and sparkles but all it's been since 12 is rain and storm cloud that fog my mind like a sailor stuck in a storm that is the sea, and I know no one can take me back to the days where we'd cried because we'd lost our favourite teddy before bed not over boyfriends or girlfriends.
Where our smiles were wide and pure not fake and forced so no one knows the truth that lies beneath.
When our biggest fear was the monster under our bed rather than not knowing if we're enough.

I often hear adults tell kids "don't wish away your childhood" I'd have to say I agree because,

We were once kids with smiles that went ear to ear, the ones who would cry over a grazed knee, the ones who complained about going to bed at eight, the one with a bright future and an even brighter smile...

What happened to the kid?

I like to think we all still have that kid as part of us but...

Instead of being them we lock them away and do everything to ignore the sound of them banging on the door of our heart screaming to be set free.

I'm telling you to please look that kid in the eyes and set them free, you don't have to let the kid in to you die because you feel like you can't be them.

Set that kid free, don't think of the what if's

Live in the now. smile like theres no tomorrow. laugh like yesterday didn't exist.
