"Who was that?" Daniel asked, while enjoying his dinner with the whole family.
Lucille LaRusso had made her famous risotto from scratch! -like she always insisted, and it was so much better than the food in the school canteen."Delivery for Daniel LaRusso.." she teased with a bright smile and used the letter to fan herself, "From Clarence!"
Daniel's face brightened up immediately and Lucille handed over the envelope.
Daniel wiped over his mouth before he took it and inspected the letter. "Wait, did he bring it here? There's no stamp.."
"I guess so? But there was no one at the front gate, just the letter."
"But he spoke into the intercom?" Daniel looked at his mother and she nodded.
"But his voice was somehow dull.. I couldn't hear it clearly."
"I told you we need security cameras at the front gate.." Daniel mumbled and considered to open the letter over eating up first, but decided to eat first because he was hungry.
"But you said yourself that you wouldn't expose him before he is ready, right?"
Daniel nodded slowly. "That's true.. Hey, who knows... Maybe he just tells me to fuck off and leave him alone. This is my farewell letter."
"Language, honey..." Lucille warned and Daniel scoffed.
"Come on, open it!" she urged.
"Why? I'm eating now! I'm hungry. I can open it later. You just want to know if you're right about him being a blond, anyway."
Lucille smiled. "Alright. You tell me later. First, how was your day at school. You haven't said anything yet, I'm bursting with curiosity."
"It was.. okay, I guess. I met a decent guy, his name is Bobby, and his friends. Well, unfortunately I also met an asshole and he seems to be good friends with Bobby and I doubt I can have one without the other.. Johnny. He got picked to show me around and made it pretty obvious, that he didn't want to do it. He's the school's karate king, it seems. It sucks. It would have been nice if I could have asked him for advice for the next movie. But maybe that's why he doesn't like me.. Because I only pretend to do karate.. who knows. Whatever."
"Aw, that's not true, baby. Mr. Miyagi taught you some! You could keep training with him."
"Miyagi teach karate to fight for life, not fight for movie." Mr. Miyagi said, not looking up from his plate, while Daniel was mouthing along. He heard it way too many times.
"Is he blond?" Lucille asked to change the topic and Daniel rolled his eyes at her.
"Mom! Please... Yes, he's blond. They're all blond. Everyone is blond, okay. Can I finish now?"
"You could invite that Bobby guy over, if he's such a nice guy." Lucille suggested and Daniel shrugged.
"Actually, he invited me over to help me sort my schedule and how to deal with the homework and stuff." he mentioned randomly and Lucille's face brightened up.
"Tonight?" she asked.
"Yeah, tonight. I'm not sure if I should go.. I mean, he seems decent, but I'm not sure if I should let my guard down that fast. Though I could really need the help. I totally forgot how to do regular school at all. It's so different from the time in Newark."
Lucille was lost in thoughts for a moment until she decided:
"I think you should go. Make your first real life friend around here. If you feel uncomfortable you can leave anytime, but you should give it a chance. Maybe he won't ask again?"
