Yoonji POV
I'm swinging my legs back and forth, my eyes gazing around the room as I do. The sound of the paper crickled underneath me as I moved The doctor's office was kind of cold, and I felt goosebumps pop up all over my body. Today was one of the checkups. It was right after school, so my mom picked me up and took me to the clinic.
Suddenly I heard a knock on the door, then it creaked open, and a familiar voice stepped inside my examination room. "Min Yoonji, how are you doing?" she said, closing the door behind her. She was holding her clipboard as she walked over to her computer.
I smiled at her. "I'm doing great, Dr. Chung; how about yourself?" I smiled. She looked up from her computer and chuckled.
"You seem so chipper and smiley," she said, putting on her gloves and turning in her chair to look at me.
Dr. Chung has been my doctor since I hit puberty and was able to start hormone therapy and begin transitioning. I really liked her; she was also a trans woman. She was really kind and understood what I was going through.
"My life right now is great, Doc! I feel young, wild, and free." I smiled, moving my arms around.
She laughed and stood up, walking over to the exam table. "Well, let's do the checkup, and then we can chat," she hummed and started the checkup. This was the first time I did a check-up without my mother by my side. Since I'm eighteen now, I can be alone in the room.
She does her normal checkup on me, making sure I'm healthy and all the medications are doing their job. She took off her rubber gloves and tossed them in the bin. "Alright, Yoonji-ah your all done," she said, moving towards her seat and plopping down. "Everything looks good. Are you taking your Flintstone vitamins? Eating three healthy meals a day. Kids these days always skip breakfast and munch on animal crackers," she huffed as she got comfortable in her chair, which made me chuckle.
"Yes! I love the gummy vitamins; they are surprisingly delicious, and of course, I eat three meals. My hormones are making me starve; I could eat two cheeseburgers," I said, swinging my legs.
"I said healthy meals," she laughed.
"Hey! They have lettuce and tomatoes," I said, and she nodded.
"Okay, lady, whatcha wanna talk about? Without Mama Min here," she said. I sighed and put my hands on my lap.
"So everything I say here is confidential, right? Like you won't tell my mama?" I asked her
"Yes, unless whatever you tell me is about harming yourself or another, but if you just want to chat, then my lips are sealed," she said. I nodded, looking around the room, then back at my doctor.
"So I have a boyfriend, and... He is unbelievably hot, and he is sweet and so very kind. He has the nicest smile and the prettiest face and eyes, not to mention he has muscles and tattoos that drive me crazy," I said all at once, and she blinked at me a couple of times but nodded.
