Chapter 15

D A N I E L

I had woken up earlier than usual, so I had a bit longer than an hour before I had to go to school. I got up from bed, walked to my stereo and turned it up high enough to where I could hear it in the shower.

I flipped on the light switch to the ceiling lights and locked my door. Then I walked into my bathroom, switched on the light along with the floor heating. I took off my boxers and threw them in the hamper before I walked over to the shower and turned the water on. I stepped inside the shower and slid the door closed.

I let the water cascade on me before I washed my hair and body. After I was all clean, I turned the hot water down to where the water was cold but still warm enough to be comfortable. I stood there just letting the cold water run over me before I turned off the water completely and stepped out of the shower and into the warm floor.

I grabbed a towel from the towel rack and toweled myself dry before wrapping it around my waist. I waked out into my bedroom, and turned down the music to where it was just loud enough for me to hear as I was changing. I walked to my dresser, pulled out some boxers and slipped them on.

I walked into my closet and grabbed some kaki shorts, a navy blue shirt, and my favorite dip died button up shirt. I walked back out of my closet, changed then walked into my bathroom and fixed my hair. While I was in there, I brushed my teeth, sprayed on some cologne, and put some lotion on, before walking out of my room and going downstairs.

"You're up early," the lady I call my mother commented.

"Yeah, I just felt well rested so I decided to get up and get ready for the day," I said as I grabbed a coffee cup from the cabinet.

I went over to the coffee maker and popped in my favorite flavor cup. Not a few seconds later and it started to dispense white chocolate infused coffee. Once it was done I grabbed the mug and walked to the table.

"You still have about twenty minutes till you have to be at school," she said, bringing a plate of muffins to the table.

"Oh well, better to be early than late," I shrugged, reaching for a banana muffin.

"Anyway, your dad and I are going out tonight, so you and Lola have the house for the evening," she spoke as she sat down next to me.

"As in a date?" I asked, turning my body towards her.

"Not really, it's more of a business thing, one of your fathers colleagues invited us over for dinner, so the two could talk about a case," she clarified, as she reached for a muffin as well.

"Oh, is it okay if we have people over?" I asked after sipping on my coffee.

"Do you even have to ask?" she replied, holding up her coffee.

"No, but I thought it would be the responsible thing to do and do we still have the projector?" I questioned, reaching for another muffin.

"That's the first time, anyway, yes we do, it's in the storage closet of the guest house," she responded, giving me a judge filled look as I dipped my muffin in my coffee.

"Quit judging," I glared, looking at her as I took a bite of the muffin.

"I'm not, its just odd," she smiled, standing from her seat and calling for Lola.

"Uh huh," I smiled before drinking the rest of my coffee.

"Anyway, I'm not sure what time we will be back, but I'm sure it won't be that late," she said before disappearing out of my sight.

I got up from the table, walked over to the sink and rinsed my mug out before setting it down. I walked out of the kitchen, then into the living room where I sat down and pulled my phone out. I went through my messages, calls, and any other notifications I had.
