Hao looks at his watch and notices that it's about five minutes before Yujin's violin lesson starts. Since Saturday he hasn't spoken to Hanbin and he's very nervous about seeing his son.
The doorbell rings and Hao rushes to the door, opening it to reveal someone he was looking forward to seeing and someone he was nervous about seeing.
"Papa" Yujin says and runs towards Hao jumping into their arms, Hao catches him but his expression shows shock and happiness.
"Yujinnie" Hao says letting go of his son who looks at him radiantly and doesn't know what else to say and instead looks at Hanbin who smiles at him sincerely, "Hey Hanbin... Come in"
"I would like to watch your class with Yujin if that's possible" Hanbin says and Hao's eyes widen and Yujin smiles happily.
"Oh of course" Hao says and looks at his watch, "Lets begin shawll we?"
They go upstairs and Yujin gives his hand to Hao who looks at Hanbin as a sign of approval who just smiles at him in response, as they walk up the stairs Hanbin looks at the two of them holding hands and a happiness and a sadness invade his heart.
The happiness of seeing Yujin happy and the sadness of knowing that they can never be a family.
They arrive at the front of the room and enter, Hanbin sits on a sofa and Hao on a chair next to Yujin who begins to show the music they have been learning.
Throughout the lesson, Hanbin kept his eyes fixed on Hao, observing the delicate way the man plays the violin, and it's obvious that the Chinese noticed the Korean's gaze.
Yujin also notices the looks his parents are giving, and decides to come up with a brilliant idea.
"Um Mister Hao..." Yujin says and Hao looks at him, "Can i go to the bathroom please? My tummy hurts" he says and makes the cutest aegyo Hao has ever seen and smiles at him in response.
After Yujin has gone to the bathroom, silence fills the room and Hanbin stares at Hao and Hao returns the stare, causing them both to turn away.
"What are we doing Hanbin?" Hao asks and Hanbin looks at him confused, "We're not 16, we don't have to pretend that it didn't happen and that boy isn't our son"
"I know i just don't know how to behave" Hanbin admits and Hao gets up from his chair and sits down next to Hanbin.
"What do you mean?" Hao asks.
"I'm afraid that everything will happen again, that we'll tell Yujin and then you'll leave again" Hanbin says and looks at Hao, "I can't trust you right now and I'm afraid that my son will get attached and then get hurt the way I did"
"Im sorry" Hao says, "Im really sorry Hanbin"
"Actions speak more than words Hao" Hanbin says and sighs deeply and tears start to fall, "I-im sorry its just... im so scared"
Hao looks at Hanbin with empathy and hugs him lovingly, running his hands through his hair and kissing his forehead softly.
"I promise that this is not going to happen again" Hao says as he wipes Hanbin's tears away with his hands, "I promise, and this time I won't break that promise"
Hanbin nods and Hao seals their lips with a tender kiss, then puts their foreheads together, Hanbin smiles at him in response and they kiss again.
"Im back!" Yujin says as he opens the door with a little too much emotion, causing the two lovebirds to separate and exchange desperate, frightened looks. "What are daddy and papa doing?"
Hanbin gasps when he hears Yujin call Hao Papa, even though he loves hearing and imagining it, he doesn't think it's appropriate.
"I-I'll wait outside, good continuation" Hanbin says getting up avoiding Hao's stare at him and Yujin's confused face.
He goes downstairs with a confused expression on his face, he heads towards the garden and gets lost in his thoughts, everything is happening too fast, he and Hao had a sudden proximityand that wasn't supposed to happen.
The only thing that "connects" them is Yujin, that's all.
That's what Hanbin thinks he needs to get into his head, he can't get close to or fall in love with someone who wouldn't feel the same way.
"Oh, Hanbin my dear" a female voice calls out to him and he looks back, revealing it to be Xiaoting. "What are you doing here honey? Oh wait Hao is teaching your son right? Come and sit here on the sofa" she says signaling him to come to her, Hanbin smiles at her and does as she says.
"Miss Xiaoting, how have you been?" Hanbin asks, sitting down next to her.
"I've been fine, and please just call me Xiaoting, we're no longer strangers" she says and Hanbin smiles in response. "I noticed you were very thoughtful while you were outside, what were you thinking about?"
"Oh it was nothing, work stuff" Hanbin lies laughing nervously.
"If you say so, your eyes showed sadness and a bit of excitement" she says looking at Hanbin who appears nervous, "Eyes don't lie Hanbin"
"My son's father is back in town and he wants to be with my son a lot and I'm going to let that happen, but my fear is that I'll get attached to him like I have in the past" he throws out his thoughts and flashes a sincere smile.
"Yes, it's true that you can get attached, but you have to realize that what comes first is your son's happiness. My advice is to stop thinking about it and let destiny take care of the three of you" she says, placing a hand on Hanbin's back, who nods.
Back at the violin lesson, the chat takes a different turn, Hao and Yujin pack up and Yujin prepares to go downstairs, but first he decides to ask his teacher something.
"Papa, I want to ask you something," Yujin asks and Hao turns to face him, waiting for him to continue. "Tomorrow I'm going to take part in an event that my school is preparing, I'm going to dance to a song with my friends and I'd really like you to come and see it, I can talk to daddy so he can buy you a ticket!" he says enthusiastically.
"It's a good idea Yujinnie, but do you think daddy won't mind?" Hao asks, afraid of Hanbin's reaction.
"Of course not, this way daddy and papa can spend time together, although uncle matthew and uncle jiwoong are going too" Yujin replies and Hao hesitates because he doesn't know if it's an good idea and Yujin, noticing Hao's fear in his eyes decides to start making doe eyes to try and convince him. " Come on papa, for me"
"How can I not resist those cute little eyes?" Hao says and receives a hug in thanks from Yujin, they go downstairs to Hanbin who is on the sofa with Xiaoting.
just like the day they met again six years later
Hanbin says goodbye to Xiaoting and, together with his son and his father, heads for the door where he prepares to say goodbye to Zhang Hao.
"Daddy, Mister Hao is coming with us tomorrow" Yujin says, afraid of his father's reaction.
"Oh, okay" Hanbin replies confused, he doesn't remember telling Hao that Yujin was going to take part in the event, even though he had thought of inviting him. "I'll buy you a ticket then"
"No problem if I go?" Hao asks hesitantly
"None at all" Hanbin says sarcastically, it's actually a bad idea, he thinks to himself, all his friends will be there and many of them know about his history with Hao, that he didn't keep a promise he was supposed to keep. "It starts at six in the afternoon, so I'll come and pick you up around half past five."
"Okay then, see you guys tomorrow" Hao says smiling and says goodbye to the two of them, who head for the car to drive home.
"He's very charming, Is he the boy from the dance club you went to ten years ago?" Xiaoting's voice echoes through the room, causing Hao to turn around.
"Yes.... he is"
