Lys was fairly certain she was stupid as she kissed Revel. As she gave into that need and want that plagued her, his hands were tangled in her hair. With a swipe of her tongue across his lower lip, his mouth opened more. Lys moaned as Revel ran his tongue over her teeth, his taste filling up her mouth. She pulled away, her braid messy and unkempt now. Panting, Lys looked at Revel. He was watching her with owl-sharp eyes, the amber glinting. She noticed with some satisfaction that his chest rose unevenly as he panted lightly. She tried not to notice the suspicious bulge in his pants either, but that was a failed mission. Revel smirked as he noticed what she was staring at.
"We have things to do today." Lys said, taking a solid few steps back. She began to leave the kitchen. "I don't think your lone soldier should accompany us."
"What if he wants to?" Lys gave Revel a look. He rolled his eyes. "Fine."
"Good boy! You want a treat?" Lys snarked at him. Revel scoffed, playfully swatting in her direction. She dodged easily and smiled at him before retreating out the door, her heart the lightest its been in a while.
"So what exactly is the plan here?" Revel asked Lys as they sat on the roof next door to the jewelry store. The day was warm for winter, the heat comfortable enough Lys was lightly sweating. She flicked her gaze to the store front.
"I'm not sure." Lys ran a hand through her hair. "I can't use my abilities."
"Have you tried?" Revel asked, his amber eyes scanning below. Lys shrugged.
"Not really." Lys looked to him. "I tried last night to just manipulate them, but it... backfired." Revel swiveled his head towards her, the motion smooth.
"How so?"
"They wrapped themselves around my neck, and then vanished." Lys explained. "They just did it without my permission. I tried to make them go away, and that didn't even work." Revel looked puzzled.
"Do you even know how wraith shadows work?" Lys shook her head at Revel's question. He sighed and dragged a hand down his face. "Think of them as separate. They have their own mind almost. You work with them, not control them."
"So basically I've been doing it wrong. That's reassuring." Lys looked back at the jewelry store.
"You didn't know, so don't beat yourself up. You just need training." Revel smiled at her. "You'll get it eventually, but definitely not today."
"How are we going to do this then? If I don't use my magic, we're fucked." Lys glared at the store. The rage was rising again.
"That's why I'm here, fireball. Here." Lys looked at Revel as he held out a small pin. She took it from him and looked it over. It was a simple heart pin, with a little arrow through it.
"It's cute, but what's this for?" Revel cleared his throat.
"It's an extremely powerful cloaking charm. Powerful enough to get you through that Attican fire shield no problem." Lys was shocked. This had to cost a fortune.
"Thank you, but what about you? Aren't you coming?" Revel shook his head.
"I'll be on watch on the outside. So if things go to shit I can get you out." Lys nodded.
"Okay, that sounds like a plan." Lys looked over the jewelry store one more time before walking to the opposite edge of the roof. "We'll come back tonight and break in under the cover of night."
"Sounds good," Revel says as he follows. "Now, lets go out and get some Elianion food because I'm starving." Lys laughed as they slipped over the edge of the building.
After a day of going through every last detail of their heist over Elianion food at her apartment, Lys felt better about it. With the cloaking charm, she stood a good chance. Probably would get beaten by her dad for not using her powers, but that she could deal with.
"Are you ready?" Lys asked Revel. Revel had changed into black jeans and hoodie, ready for recon on the roof. He nodded as she handed him an earpiece. "Good. Remember to stay hidden unless I need you."
"I know the plan, Lys." Revel gave her a reassuring smile. "I'm not going to fuck things up." Lys sighed.
"I know, I'm just nervous." Revel gave her a small kiss on her cheek.
"Don't be. We'll be okay, fireball." Lys gave Revel a small smile.
"Okay." She glanced out the window to the darkening sky. "Lets go get this over with."
