You Truly Are Something Else. ❞

Alby woke Jocelyn up that morning in order for her to help Thomas find a job. He took her to where Thomas was, not so peacefully, sleeping.

The leader placed a hand over his mouth, making him wake up from lack of breath. "Thomas. Shh. Follow me." Thomas wearily got up and caught up to Alby and Jocelyn. They all took in the quiet of the early morning.

"It's peaceful, isn't it? I know it's hard to believe but it wasn't always this way. We had dark days. We lost a lot of boys to fear. To panic. But we've come far since then. Established order, made peace." Alby told both Jocelyn and Thomas. Jocelyn was really confused about why she was there and she was sure Thomas was too.

"Yeah. Why are you telling us this?" Thomas nodded, baffled.

"Because you two aren't like the others." Alby turned to Jocelyn. "You're the peacemaker. You keep everything good between everyone, answer any question thrown your way." he then turned to Thomas. "You're curious. Throw a million questions people's way a minute. You keep each other grounded and it's only been a day. But you, you're one of us now, Thomas. You need to know what that means." he handed the boy the knife in his hand carefully.

Alby pointed to the wall, Thomas turning to look and seeing every Glader's name there was on said wall. He saw Jocelyn, Newt, Alby, Gally, Minho, Chuck and many more. He even saw some crossed out, raising questions.

He pointed at the crossed-out names. "What happened to them?" he asked with a careful tone.

"Like Alby said. . . dark days, Tommy. We lost boys."

As soon as Thomas had carved his name into the wall, Alby let him know that Jocelyn would be showing him everything to do with the jobs as well as how to do them.

The pair were currently in the garden with Newt. And, once again, Thomas was asking questions. "Has anyone tried climbing to the top?"

Newt and Jocelyn made eye contact and Jocelyn decided to let the blonde speak. If he trusted Thomas with the information from his past, then that was his choice. "Tried it. The ivy doesn't go all the way to the top. And besides, where are you gonna go from there?"

"Yeah, well, what about the Box? Next time it comes up, you just jump—"

"Look, Tommy, you're giving us ideas we've already tried. The Box doesn't go down if it has any weight in it. And we weren't gonna jump down there, were we?" Jocelyn turned to him with a soft smile, rolling her eyes playfully.
