Ever since the fight with Arizona at the airport, Callie had spent so much time with Mark. Both suffered massive heartbreaks from those they loved. Callie slowly began to heal with the help of Mark and vice versa. Callie should've expressed more with Arizona of why she herself didn't want to go to Africa and knew putting up a bad mood was not the right thing to do. At least Arizona is making a difference in Africa. Mark understood why it couldn't have worked out with Lexie because of the Sloan situation. Months had passed and he saw that she moved on with Jackson. Someone who was closer to her in age and maturity. Not that it was a bad thing but deep down inside he wished that he didn't put her in that situation.
Mark was calling for Derek for a neuro consultation on a case and Derek walked in to see the images. Derek noticed that Mark seemed much happier and asked, "How is going Mark?"
"Doing great. I needed a neuro consultation for this case before I had Botox injections ordered for this patient. This patient has migraines and wants to clear it with you." He said with a smile.
"Yes, she does have some neurological damage. I'd say Botox and give her some beta-blockers. No, I meant to ask how it is going with you and Callie?" Derek asked further. "You two have been spending a lot of time together."
"Forgot that everyone in this hospital gossips." Mark rolled his eyes. "We are just friends. Friends who are helping each other out."
"In on-call rooms that are locked so other residents and attendings can't access?" Derek teased. "Not to mention that you two work the same hours and are seen going over to Joe's to get drinks and go home together."
"Maybe I am in love. However, it is none of your or the hospital's business." Mark said as he got a page from Callie. He didn't want anyone to know that he and Callie had been secretly hooking up and just disguising it as just friends helping each other out. He walked out of the room and went to meet with Callie in the on-call room. He had fallen head over heels in love with Callie.
Callie sat on the bed and in her hands was a positive pregnancy test. She suspected that she might have been pregnant, but the test cemented her belief that she was in fact pregnant. Not with anyone's baby but Mark's. Callie knew that they had not been careful about protection and thought they wouldn't. They had helped each other fix their broken hearts and somehow along the way fell in love. She was in love with her best friend.
The door opened and Mark came inside the on-call room. He closed and locked he door behind him. He noticed Callie holding a pregnancy test and the look on her face told him that she was pregnant. He sat down next to her to look at the test. His suspicions were confirmed.
"We are pregnant," Mark said.
"We are pregnant," Callie said agreeing.
"You want to keep the baby?" He asked. Callie looked over at him.
"Do you?" She asked with a brow raised.
"Well yes but it is the woman's choice," Mark said. "I would love to have this child with you."
"I want to do this too," Callie said with a smile. "This would ruin your chances to get together with Lexie though."
"That is not a problem because, for one, she moved on. And two, I moved on as well." Mark confessed.
"Wait... with who?" Callie said as her heart raced. She hoped that no one picked up Mark because she wanted him all to herself.
"You." Mark omitted. "I am in love with you, Calliope Iphegenia Torres."
Callie stopped breathing when he said I love you then followed by her full name. Her heart melted and she smiled. She told him, "I love you too Mark Sloan."
He leaned into her, his lips hovering over hers. They were about to kiss until they both got paged with a 911. Both grunted in frustration, Callie disposed of the pregnancy test, and he sighed. He wanted to make sweet love to the woman that he loved so much and now is carrying his child. Both left the on-call room to the trauma pit and both were called to do consultation.
Hours later, Mark ran into Addison who kept staring at him. She was brought in for a few patients that needed her expertise in care. He turned to her to ask, "What is up?"
"Is it little Grey?" Addison asked. It had been a while since she was last at Seattle Grace.
"No." He answered plainly. "Callie Torres."
"Oh..." Addison said. "I thought she went to Africa with Arizona."
"Sadly they broke up in the airport," Mark said. "I have a favor for you. I need total discretion. Could you be our Ob-Gyn?"
"Sure?" Addison agreed until she realized the truth and whispered. "Wait... You two are pregnant?"
"Yes. I don't want anyone to know until we both are ready to announce it." Mark said in a hushed tone. "Addison... I love her. I want to give her everything. What Lexie and I had was good. However, with Callie, coming home to her every day made me fall more in love with her. She feels the same way too. I want to marry her and be her husband. I want to raise our child together."
"Wow Mark Sloan, you grew up," Addison said as tears threatened to fall. She was so happy that he found someone he loved. She did hear about Lexie and Mark having a falling out and hoped he didn't revert to his old days. The rumors were true that he was only seeing one woman. And it was Callie. Addison loved Callie and was there for her when she worked at Seattle Grace. However, she knew Mark and noticed the way whenever he saw Lexie, his eyes turned watery. Especially whenever Lexie was with Jackson. "I'm very proud of you and very happy. I'd be honored to be your ob-gyn, but I feel that you're moving too fast."
"I'm not getting any younger. I want to settle down." Mark confessed. "I genuinely love her Addison."
"No. You are still in love with Lexie. Yes, that you love Callie, but you wouldn't be in it fully." Addison noted. "I see the way you look at her whenever she is with Jackson. It breaks you."
"Well, she moved on. I had to." He got up and left. He wanted to go meet Callie because she had something to tell him.
He met with her in her office, and she closed the door. He sat down across from her. She sighed.
"Mark... I just know you all too well. I'm your best friend and let me tell you, yes, I love you. However, I know you love Lexie. You say her name in your sleep. We can co-parent with this child." Callie said as she came to terms with reality. It would be a dream to be with Mark, but he still loved Lexie. "I overheard you and Addison talking and you should go get Lexie back."
"Look, I can't do this to Lexie again. The whole Sloan situation is why we broke up. If she finds out that I want to get back with her and have a child on the way she will break up with me all over again." Mark explained. "I don't want to put her through that situation again."
"I can talk with her. I will only want to borrow you for co-parenting, and she doesn't have to take on the responsibility. Only if she wants to." Callie suggested. "Let me talk with her. But Mark, please I love you, but you will be marrying the wrong girl. Lexie is the right one for you."
