If Cristina became the head of the Cardio then would she stay?

Webber could never find a permanent position for the cardiovascular surgery director position. Everyone came and went. No one could replace the great Preston Burke. He had reached out to Teddy Altman, but she had a thing going on in Germany. She was a prime candidate and it frustrated him that he couldn't find anyone. He got a knock on the door, and it was Miranda Bailey. She was the Director of the General Surgery.

"I take it you haven't found anyone?" Miranda asked. "I only ask because it is chaos in that department, and we need stability there."

"I tried to reach out to Altman, and she is dealing with whatever in Germany," Webber said exhaustingly. "No one can replace Preston Burke."

"I am ashamed of you Webber and judging you," Bailey said with her arms crossed. "You have Cristina Yang who completed her fellowship. Burke's prodigy and she also worked with Teddy Altman before the whole Owen Hunt fiasco."

"Teddy refused this position because of Owen?" Webber said with a raised brow. 'What happened."

"A lover's spiff," Bailey said. "However, Cristina Yang is more than capable of that position. It would be stupid to lose her to some other place..."

Bailey left the office leaving Webber to rethink everything. He paged Cristina Yang to his office. He let out a sigh and waited.

Minutes passed and she appeared in his office and sat down across from him. Cristina wanted to know what this was about. She wondered if this was about her leaving because she realized her potential could be elsewhere. Lexie and Meredith told her to expand her options.

"You paged me, Dr. Webber?" She asked. "If this is about me leaving, I just want to expand my horizons –"

"No. I want to offer you the position of cardiovascular surgery director. You are the prime candidate for the position." Webber interrupted. "You were a student of Preston Burke and only have had high praise from your mentors and Bailey recommended you. Teddy Altman didn't want to work here because of personal reasons and even she recommended you."

Cristina sat there with eyes open, and her jaw dropped. She got good offers but this one takes the cake. He watched her reaction and he thought that she shouldn't be so shocked. Moments of silence passed as Cristina thought about it. This is the dream job she wanted.

"Do you need time to think about this?" Webber asked.

"No. I would love to take this position." Cristina said excitedly then toned down to seriousness. "This is an excellent opportunity.

Webber handed her the paperwork he had prepared. She read through and signed with a wide smile. She handed it back to Webber and he said with pride, "Welcome Director of Cardiovascular Surgery Dr. Yang."

She felt immense pride and bowed her head as she said, "Thanks. I will not disappoint you."

She left his office and half ran down the hallway to find Meredith. She ran into a happy Lexie and grabbed her. Lexie was confused and then Cristina found Meredith. She grabbed Meredith and pulled both into the on-call room.

"What was that about?!" Meredith shouted. "I have surgery in a few minutes."

"I am now the Director of the Cardiovascular Surgery Wing," Cristina said with a sense of pride.

"CONGRATS!" Both Lexie and Meredith shouted as they hugged Cristina in unison.
