I step out of the car, only to land my foot in an ice cold puddle, I pull it out quickly "shi-... Iiiii meeaannn shucks" I say covering it up terribly. My mom gives me a look like 'you're not fooling me' then rolls her eyes and laughs, pulling me into a tight hug
"Ooooooohhhhhh my little girls growing up." She showers my face with kisses.
"God mom stop people are staring" I push her off holding back a smile
"Sorry sorry I'll be the cool mom that doesn't freak out and embarrass her daughter"
I laugh "thanks" and pull my bag out of the front seat putting it over my shoulder "okay well I'm gonna go now, wish me luck."
"Ohh have a wonderful day!" She pulls me into another extremely tight hug then catches her self and pulls back holding her hands up in surrender "sorry sorry, got it, cool mom here"
I chuckle "love you mom, bye"
I turn around as she drives off, looking up the wide set of concrete stairs that lead into the school, standing there are tight knit clusters and I can't help but think 'oh god'
I re-situate my bag on my shoulder and walk up the stairs, a not quite mean but not quite friendly look on my face.
I hear the whispers starting "who's she?" "Oh look a new girl" "OHMIGOD her hair is gorgeous" "damn she is hot"
My face turns a shade of red that is normally reserved for my hair at that last comment, but I keep walking.
I push open the doors to the front of the school and am greeted with a blast of warm air and the smell of microwave pancakes.
As I walk down the halls trying to find the office I see more clicks and hear more whispering, 'God does everyone have something to say about me?!'
I turn a corner and slam face first into something, I hear an "oof", make that someone.
"Oh god I'm so sorry" I say looking up to find a beautiful golden haired boy, with eyes bluer than the sky.
I keep how attractive I think he is out of my expression and quickly start gathering my stuff.
"No, no, no. It was my fault I wasn't looking where I was going" he says reaching down to help, he goes for the one thing I won't let anyone else touch.
"No! I mean- I've got it" I say grabbing the the locket and shoving it back into my bag.
Unfazed by my little snap he continues grinning "are you always this perky at 8:00 in the morning?" I raise an eyebrow
"Only when I have a reason to be" he shrugs "I'm Liam by the way" he stands reaching a hand down to help me up, I don't take it.
"You are?" He ask ignoring my obvious desire to end the conversation.
"Late." I say as the bell rings. I walk off down the hall muttering "and lost" I turn another corner
"Hey late!" He calls "The office is the other way"
I huff and no matter how much I don't want to give him the pleasure of being right, not being late to my first class is more important.
I turn back around my head held high "I knew that" I walk past him and into the office, not leaving time for him to get the last word.
I walk up to the desk and say "hi I'm new here i came to pick up my schedule"
"Right this way" she says with a slight southern drawl, and leads me away.
