Chapter six

"Miss Divian" I hear the deep, old voice of Mr. Grey call to me as I make my way to the door.
'Shit.'
"Could you come over here?"
"Sure" I say in the high sweet tone reserved for teachers.
"You can drop the tone Annette you're not in trouble" he chuckles.
"Oh thank god" I hold a hand to my chest "you had me scared there"
"No need to be scared I just wanted to talk to you about make up work" he says as the class files out... All but in person is gone besides me.
"Mr. Cherubim you too" he says stopping the boy, the one who's been staring at me.
He groans and walks over "yes?"
"You are failing and that's no secret, that's no because you lack the knowledge it's because you lack the motivation. You're a smart kid Jasper you just need to try"
He rolls his eyes and I try not to chuckle.
"So for both of you to catch up on some well needed points" he shoots Jasper a look "you will each be doing a project on Ancient Christians"
Jasper scoffs
"Do you have a problem with this project Jasper?" Mr. Grey quirks and old fluffy eyebrow.
"No no not at all" he says the sarcasm potent in his voice.
"Good" says Mr.Grey not getting it.
"You can collaborate or do it by yourselves as long as it gets done in two weeks"
I nod and take the packet he hands me.
"Other than that you can focus on whatever you want about ancient Christians"
"Can I go now?" Jasper asks sounding bored.
"Yes you can both go" mr.Grey responds.
"Thanks" he walks out glancing back at me as if I'm contagiously sick.
"Okay..." I say and shrug it off as I walk out.
He's waiting for me in the hallway, "I work alone"
"So do I" I cross my arms
"Good." He says his eyes not as hard actually looking a little surprised.
"Good" I raise an eyebrow "anything else you want to say to me or are you just gonna stare again?"
His eyes go soft again.
I turn around and walk away and I hear him start to call out but decide better of it. He sighs and I hear his footsteps recede down the hallway.
