Two periods and a ton of bullshitted assignments later, it's time for lunch.
I pull my bag off the floor slinging it per my shoulder and walk out of my AP Calc class, dreading the next forty minute.
I walk down the hallways biding my time as I make my way to the lunchroom.
"Late!" I hear Liam's voice.
"Oh god" I mumble.
"Late come sit with me!" He waves me
Over to the table, which is full of the obviously popular people.
I shake my head "no can do I've gotta get my lunch and sit with my friends."
"Friends?" He asks confused.
"And by friends I mean anyone else but you" I shoot him an overly cheeky wink, my teasing more of teasing than actual rudeness now, and walk off.
I hear a high, overly snobby voice sneer behind me, "so this is the girl you've been talking about, God she seems like a real class A bitch" she says,
Purposefully loud enough for me to hear.
I whip around, a fire in my eyes, "oh excuse me I don't think you were invited to listen to our conversation, well there's so many people in it it's practically a party now, seems like we need a few balloons" I stick my thumb in my mouth and slowly blow up my middle finger.
The lunch room erupts in a series of gasps and "OOOOOHHHHHHH!!!" 's
Her face turns bright red.
I turn and leave, seeing a boy sitting alone at the next table over, quietly laughing his ass off.
'Good' I think 'at least I made someone smile my mother would be proud'
"That... Was... AWESOME!!!" Squeals a voice to my left.
"Totally awesome." Agrees a deeper voice to my right.
I look to each side of me, finding that I have been surrounded with my own entourage.
"Cassy Stevens" says the drop dead gorgeous blonde to my left, "and that's Greg" she points to the 6'3, slightly chubby, brunette to my left, "we're your new best friends"
"Thanks but no thanks" I shrug my bag higher on my shoulder.
"She loves us" Greg says.
"Yeah she's crazy about us" nods Cassy.
I wanted to push them away but something about their attitude was contagious.
"I take it you don't like her?" I ask Cassy.
"Sadie? Oh god she is the equivalent of satan in designer heels"
We walk through the line and I take out my card to pay for my lunch but she stops me.
"Lunch is on me" she says taking her card out.
"No it's fine I can pay for it myself" I say not wanting to take her charity.
"No I insist" she swipes her card "you made my day it's the least I can do"
I sigh "fine.... Thanks"
I pick up my tray and start to walk off when they each loop an arm through my elbows "hey!-" I start
"Ohhhhhhh we're gonna be best friends I can already tell" squeals Cassy.
"I don't do the whole friendship thing..." I trail off.
"Well the whole friendship thing is doing you" Greg says as he sits me down at their table, just a few over from the guy I saw earlier.
Greg and Cassy babble on about things we could do, how great of friends we are going to be, the latest gossip, etc...
I don't listen one bit, im too busy ,casually, staring at the guy.
His face is all angles, a strong jawline with prominent but not too prominent cheek bones. His perfect nose leads to a set of full pink lips, and his eyes....... Oh his eyes. Their piercing green would make any girl drop dead where she was standing. To top it all off he has the shaggy, not too short not too long, pitch black hair that makes his eyes pop even more.
"Who's that?" I ask not caring that I interrupt them mid-rant. I point to the boy.
"Don't even think about it honey" Cassy starts "he moved here two weeks ago at the beginning of the school year and every girl that has approached him has left either on the verge of tears or full out crying"
I bite the inside of my cheek and go back to looking at him, cassy's babbling in the background a comforting noise.
He looks up and its like he's staring into me, like he can see right past the wall I have up to keep everyone out.
I. Hate. It.
I avert my eyes down, suddenly extremely interested in my potato salad.
And I feel his gaze on me, burning holes through the top of my head.
