The Party

Don invited me to a party his dad was throwing at their house. I dressed up to look good besides the celebrity guests. After I rang the bell, Don opened the door and let me in.
"Wow, you look great, Emily." He looks me once over and smiles.
"If I was into women, I would have kissed you tonight. Maybe a bit more than just kissed." Don winks at me and I pinch his arm. He groans.

"Behave for once." That boy is as cocky as his dad, I can't believe it. He laughs and we push our way through the crowd. Don leads me into the kitchen and gives me a drink. Then we go into the living room and I join a fun looking group of people. I'm actually pretty good at starting conversations with strangers and they seem really nice.

After a while however, my social batterie is low and I make my way to the door that leads outside to the back garden. It looks like nobody else is out there.

I step outside and take a deep breath of fresh air immediately feeling better again. Behind me, I can hear the door open and someone steps next to me.

"Hey, aren't you enjoying my party?" The person says.

"Course I do, I'm only outside to enjoy some fresh air." I turn and look at the man who's talking, it's Noel, Don's dad.
"What are you doing here?" I ask him curiously.
"Well, I saw a lonely person standing outside and wanted to make sure they weren't doing anything illegal in my fucking garden."

I chuckle and let my eyes travel over our surroundings.

"Nope, it's just me standing here to enjoy the silence."

The door behind us opens again and Matt, one of Noel's friends, nearly falls as he rushes out.
"Hey sexy noodle, are ya coming back in or what?" He slurs and staggers towards us wrapping his arms around Noel's shoulders. He looks at him expectantly.

"I'll be right back with you, give me a little break, I'm an old man." Noel grins at Matt who gets the hint and disappears back into the house.

"You and old Mr "sexy noodle"? I thought you were the ultimate party animal." I look at him mischievously.
"Well, secretly I am, but I don't want the others to feel bad", he winks at me.

"I absolutely can't tolerate much, but I love to dance." I say and look up at him with a grin.

"No one forces you to drink here, but you are always welcome to smoke something with me", he bumps his shoulder against mine and grins.
"Don't you dare even suggesting, I'm not going to start with something like that. My health is very important to me." I put my hand playfully at my chest and close my eyes.
"How else can I keep looking like the princess I am." At that we both have to laugh.
"You sure you haven't had anything?" Noel asks and narrows his eyes at me.
"Just one drink. I swear." I answer him honesty and chuckle.
"Anyway, it's better to not take any drugs, I speak from experience. Seriously, not being tempted at all is good." He sighs before adding "I hate dancing."
He looks at the sky and I make a face at his words and let my eyes travel along the contours of his face.

Noel doesn't look old at all, on the contrary, I think he's incredibly attractive.

"What? Why?"
He raises an eyebrow and looks at me.

"Do I look like I enjoy dancing?" Noel gestures to his body. Okay, no he doesn't look like one of those people, he's pretty lean but not really muscular.

"You are way to grumpy, Mr. Gallagher." I grin, I like to call him Mr. Gallagher, I don't know why.

He doesn't respond and just continues.

"I'm the one who sits in the corner or who's on stage playing while watching the others embarrass themselves on the dance floor to my own fucking music."

"Wait, you think I can't dance?" I look at him with a shocked impression.
"I've never said that, your not other people, Em." He smiles at me and I blush at his words.
"I even believe you're a really good dancer." Noel continues and his smile widens.

This makes me feel warm and giddy inside. Why am I reacting to his words like that?

"Will you come back in with me now? I will introduce you to other cool people besides me and we can chat a bit more if you'd like. Dancing is of course also possible." He winks at me again.
"But not with you", I pout.
"No, not with my incredibly slender ass." He laughs and shakes his head.

I always enjoy hanging out with Noel, sometimes more than with his son recently...
He's so funny and witty, I love that.
