Katie Wilson stood there with a look of uncertainty across her face. She hadn't felt this much anxiety since the accident that nearly happened four years ago. That horrible night ended up making the young girl feel so overwhelmed and fearful, causing her to have that unbearable feeling ever since. She thought she was ready to face a new chapter in her life. Moving from Seattle Washington to California in two weeks, with the sudden transition made the girl's condition worsen. However, when her mother broke the news to her, she didn't complain. The three of them, moving to the Los Angeles, in just a matter of weeks. Heighted the nerves in her body, but the more she thought about the move. And the reassurance she got from her mother and sister, made the nerves lessen.
Here and there during the previous weeks, the uncontrollable nerves would come back again. Spiking up and down like an arrow on a graph. However, a form of medication that her doctor prescribed to her, put her at ease for the moment.
Though right now, she wasn't at ease. The poor girl was terrified. Starting a new school was overwhelming to her. Especially in a different state, filled with different people. She knew no one and that scared her.
Her hands began to get clammy, the sound of her beating heart, pounding loudly in her ears. Was all she could hear, amongst the chattering voices between her new peers. Her gaze, still looking at the huge building in front of her.
West Valley High
She couldn't help, but feel pathetic. This was her second day and she was already more nervous than she was on the first day. She wished she could turn back now and go home to the comfort of her bed. Yet, before she could make up her mind and turn back. She let out a sigh when remembering the words her mother had said to her, yesterday morning.
"Don't let your fear consume you"
Easier said than done, Katie thought to herself with what her mother had told her. Although a part of Katie was determined to fight against her rising anxiety. If she dared walk into this unfamiliar place called school and spend the entire day there yesterday. Then she could do it all over again today.
Taking a deep breath in to calm herself. She began walking, abandoning the spot she once stood in. Katie raised her hands to grab onto the two straps of her backpack, giving the individual straps a quick squeeze. To find some sort of comfort as she walks closer to the entrance.
An older boy, in front of her, who looked like he was an upper-class man. Held the door open for her, and stepped to the side to let her in. She politely smiled at the boy, avoiding eye contact, and muttered a quiet 'thank you'. She quickly hurried inside and headed to her first class. Katie couldn't help, but look around the giant school surrounding her, and the other students.
