Chapter five

Niki wasn't planning on going out tonight but his own boredom got to him. He decided to out with with his group of "friends". He didn't particular like these people but he tolerated them enough.

Niki was on his phone as the group exchanged jokes and passed around a cigarette. He was in his own little word until someone nudged him.

"You gon puff or what?" The girl said while she held out the cigarette in between her index and middle finger.

He just looks at her for a second. He bent over to her height and took a hit of the cigarette while she held it in between her fingers.

She just smirked.

This girl was Cocona.

Niki and her had somewhat of a push and pull all these years. Everyone in their friend group always thought they had a thing going on but it seems casual.

Niki blew out the smoke and went back on his phone. Cocona brought the cigarette but to her lips, taking another huff before passing it.

Niki thought cocona was chill. They've know each other for some time now. She's basically going through the same thing at home. They both bonded over that.

"Um, hey."

They heard a girl say with an unconfident tone. Niki somewhat recognizes her voice. They both turn around to see Eunchae as she almost hesitated to wave. Everyone just stares at her for a second.

"Dang you weren't joking about the stalking" Niki asked smiling and walking over to her. He was purposely giving Eunchae a hard time.

"I didn't know you had an admirer." Cocona joked.

Eunchae couldn't think of anything to say. She felt her heartbeat faster because she was so nervous.

Niki looked at her and sighed. "What's in it for me?" He asked her as he thought of what she originally asked him to do.

Eunchae was surprised, she didn't think this far. "I-I'll do your homework!" She blurted out.

Niki rolled his eyes at her deal. "You think I care about school?" He said plainly.

Eunchae didn't waste time. She tried to quickly think of something. She need the thicken her skin if she wanted convince Niki.

Niki just scoffed before walking back to his friends.

"I know you want to graduate!" Eunchae spoke up and getting his attention. "Life doesn't end in high school." She said knowing hers might.

Niki turned around to face her.

"This can't be all you want to do in life." She said trying push.

Niki walks over to her again backing her up to a wall. "You don't know me." He said in a calm yet intimidating tone.

Eunchae swallowed. "If you, no, WHEN you make up your mind, meet me at the rooftop at school." She said looking at him dead in the eyes.

Eunchae slips away and ran back to building where her friends are at. She felt Adrenaline again. And she was starting to crave it. She smiled to herself in disbelief she just did that infront of a scary group of people.

Niki watched her run away. Graduating wasn't something he thought of. But it was his senior year. Getting out of this town does sound nice. It somewhat sounded like a sliver of hope. Graduating and getting a simple job in the city.

"I'm heading out." Niki said.

-Next Day-

Eunchae waited at the rooftop at the end of lunch in hopes Niki would show up. She got more anxious as the minutes passed by. As the bell as about to ring, Niki surprisingly showed up. This made Eunchae very happy, but now what?

"So what now?" Niki said squinting as the sun was beating down on them.

Eunchae handed her phone over to him. "We should start by exchanging numbers" she said as he took the phone from her hands.

"This isn't a whole plot for you to get my number right?" He said, giving her a hard time again.

"Just give me your home work, and I'll give you a list of the things I want to do." Eunchae said plain and simple.

"And what if I don't want to do it?" Niki raised an eyebrow.

"Just getting you to agree was the first step. We can think of something else if anything gets too crazy." Eunchae said vaguely.

Niki just looked at her. "Why are you doing this?"

Eunchae paused for a second thinking of a convincing reason.

"It's my senior year bucket list." She said smiling to herself. "I haven't done much in life so I wanna do them right now." She elaborated.

"And this couldn't wait later?" Niki said curiously. "You know people don't normally shoplift." Niki said. Handing her over phone back with her number.

"It's not just shoplifting." Eunchae kept going.

"What? You're trying to rob a bank too?" Niki said sarcastically.

"No, obviously not." She said.

"Why me then? Dont you have friends?" Niki asked again.

Eunchae looked down and started picking on her nails. "I don't exactly want my friends to find out." She looked up to him again. "At least for now." She pursed her lips.

"Okay, Hong Eunchae." Niki sighed and put his hands in His pockets. "Whenever you're ready for it, send me this fucking list I guess." He shrugged.

"Thanks, Niki." Eunchae just smiled at him.

Niki looked at her. "But if it's stupid, I'm out." He said before walking away.
