"Arceneaux, you got a visitor!" The guard that watched our block said through the cell door. " You know the drill."

I huffed, nodding and standing off my bed facing the wall, putting my hands behind my back. He then cuffed me and walked me thrown the hallways and buzzed through a few doors before putting me in front of the phone and the glass that separated the inmates and visitors.

I looked at aristos as I smiled slightly it had been a while since I had seen him he was mostly busy with work. He looked different longer hair  his beard had grown out and his eyes looked different the look inside them something was diffrent. A sad look sat inside of them.

"Hey, ari." I said through the phone a soft yet happy tone to my voice.

"Hey scott..." He replied, letting out a sigh.

" You seem different... exhausted?" I asked.

"Yeah, something like that..."

"Tell me about it." I leaned forward on the desk, now listening intently to what he had to say.

"Melissa broke up with me recently... I've been pulled with work, and I've just been in a dark place. The thoughts I have are trying to get the best of me."

" Oh shit ari I'm sorry... no matter what, though, you get through this, ok? promise me when I get out of here you will be there, right?" Melissa was aris long-time girlfriend 6 years down the drain.

" Yeah, I'll be there, I promise." He said, looking at me nodding softly before looking down.

" Good cause I will not bury another friend from suicide or anything, got that?" I was serious. I'm not gonna bury another friend, especially my cousin, who's my best friend.

" Yeah, I got it," he chuckled softly.

" Visiting hours are now over inmates will be returned to their cell." The voice vlcame over the loud speeker.

I sighed, saying goodbye to ari, then being cuffed once again and walking to my cell. I sat on my bed stretching and then watching as the light down the hall one by one turned off till the block was dark, and I slowly drifted off to sleep.

I sat in the yard watching one of the guards that helped me out here and there with getting contraband and info on other inmates' walk up to me. He discreetly  tells me about an inmate that's in for some bad stuff. I then take that info to a group that I trade contraband with and let them know about the guy and his disgusting crimes. They then take care of him.

They put him in medical for a few days till he died. To be honest, this place was ruthless, people constantly being stabbed. Beat or just hurt in any way. I tried my best not to get in trouble. The less I did, the more I got closer to getting out early and back home to the people I loved.

I woke up in the middle of the night to a guard knocking on my foot, waking me up and shining a flash light in my face. I sat up and put my hands behind my back as he came in to cuff me, walking me down the hall to the wardens office.

" What's all this about?" I asked, sitting at his desk.

" You're getting out." He said, writing his signature on a few papers.

"i-im what?" I was taken back. I'm not supposed to get out for another two years. There's no way I'm getting out there has to be a mistake.

" You're getting out a new judge reread your file and asked why you were still in here. Looked over your file. You don't do bad things. I just wanted justice for whoever the guy you beat killed and said to let you off... so go pack your shit and get back here sign these papers and get the fuck out of my prison."

I hurried back to my cell with the guard and realized I didn't need anything in here so he walked me back to the office where I signed papers then was taken to reception.

There they gave me back the clothes I was booked in my phone, wallet keys and anything else I had I changed and  realized I had no way home it was four am no one was up right now. I decided to catch a bus which took me to my old neighborhood. I walked to what would be me and aris house and realized he had no longer lived there the cars were diffrent and the guy that walked out who was obviously leaving for work was not ari.

I sighed walking to a gas station seeing what money I had in my wallet, I had about eighty-five dollars so I bought a phone charger and charged my phone before checking aris location and walking to his new apartment.

I knocked on the door I hoped was his and to my suprise he was awake.

" holy shit scott w-what are you doing here?" He pulled me into a tight hug.

" I was released." I said hugging him back as as I walked inside.

" what do you mean they released you? You have two years left on your sentace" he said sitting on the couch across from me.

"Some shit about a new county judge looked at my record, wondered why I was still in told em to release me." I relaxed on the chair I was in this was so weird I haven't been able to sit and relax for in so long.

"They did say on the new inmates with minor felony that weren't like really bad could possibly be released cause they are running out of room in the prisons and they can't transfer most due to diffrent state federal laws." Aristos said, sitting back and hitting a blunt.

"Bro pass that shit over" I chuckled taking the blunt ari handed me. I smiled taking a few hits as I relaxed and let the high take over. damn I missed this feeling.
