They spent the next few days trying to understand what the prophecy truly meant for them. They travelled back to Harrisburg to try and find some kind of book to tell them what this whole situation meant but even the books that seemed to be the source of telling them what they needed to know were not too informative.
Kiran took another look at the prophecy and then back at the book that Lena had found for them-
'King Kiran Aurelian of Brookstone II, in the land of Alkirk, where shadows loom and darkness creeps, A child of royal and magical blood shall rise, his destiny to keep. Kiran, a young and valiant king, with a heart so false and dangerous. Shall face a wicked sorcerer, whose power none can subdue.'
"This simply makes no sense, I understand the royal blood part but what does it mean by magical blood?" Kiran's eyebrows furrowed at the words in front of them as if they were ancient runes. "I have never had magical blood so what could that mean?"
"You don't know until you try, mate, try concentrating hard on an object and see if anything happens." Kiran was a little sceptical but took up the challenge, there had to be some kind of reason that he felt that electric feeling in his chest back at the cave. He stood up from the table and grabbed a dirty stick from the outside, placing it on the table in front of him.
He then got all of his attention on that one stick, blocking out all other noise around him and just squinted his eyes at the stick in front of him. Just then, it seemed to move by itself ever so slightly... Kiran looked up at the people all watching him in shock.
"All of you stand up from the table for a second." Kiran leaned forward in his chair once again and squinted his eyes once again. The stick started to move on its own until suddenly-
SMASH!
The stick flew through the house at lightning-speed, breaking a window in its trip which just makes Kiran stop dead in his tracks. What had just happened? Did he do that?
"What does this mean? Have I been cursed with magical powers as well?" Kiran didn't know how to feel about this- on one hand, he felt grateful as they gave him a new way to potentially kill Malachi once and for all but at the same time, there had never been any signs of him being magical.
"When you went down into that tunnel, something must have changed in you, I haven't ever seen this kind of magic come out of nowhere." Elizabeth commented, looking fearfully at the children that surrounded the table once again.
"My father placed his hand on my chest and that's when I felt like an electric shock but that doesn't make any sense, we have never had magic in the family..." Kiran just continued to grow more and more confused as the seconds went on.
"Has your father ever touched your chest like that? Because that is bloody confusing if not." Kiran shook his head when Lena pipes up with a question.
"It could be possible that since you got cursed as a child that these magical powers have lived in you since then but something between you and your father allowed this to start occurring. Was there anything else that happened before that?"
"We did tell one another that we loved each other for the first time that I can remember... You don't think that it was caused by those words or something?" They all just looked confused, unable to come up with some kind of explanation for Kiran's sudden powers. "Is it the power of love or something?"
"It is plausible, since you grew up with not a lot of words of affection from your parents, it could be linked to that kind of thing." Lena continued on. "It's very rare but there have been cases of it in other magical folk in the past. Mummy and Daddy always told me about those before I went to sleep every night."
"I don't know but what I do know is that I need to go back to the castle to check one thing." Kiran gave up on trying to come up with an answer.
What came after that was a trip back to the castle, Kiran was looking for one book in particular- 'The Cauldron of Prophecies', there was something inside him that was telling him that he needed to read that book. He was greeted back into the castle like he had never left, everyone trying desperately to avoid the king but he knew that that wouldn't always be like this. He opened the throne room doors to find his mother sitting in her throne, the two of them embraced one another for the first time in a good while.
"Mother, I need to find that 'The Cauldron of Prophecies' book." He handed over the small piece of parchment that he had gotten, his mother's eyes scanning it carefully.
"Of course, darling, follow me." As the two of them made their way down to the kingdom's library, they got caught up in a conversation about what Kiran had missed back at the castle since his absence. Kiran told her all about the journey that he had taken over the last couple of weeks.
Aileen's finger roamed throughout all of the books on one specific chest of novels that greeted her like an old friend. She found the book that they were looking for, quickly flipping to the chapter with his name now printed at the top as 'King Kiran II of Alkirk (1528-)', a graceful photograph of Kiran as a child sat next to his name.
Kiran then saw his prophecy had been written in the pages of the book but it was more than the small little parchment had said.
Those were the words that read on the small piece of parchment that he had carried everywhere since he had received it a few days past but there was something added afterwards.
'But fear not, for Kiran's destiny is intertwined with hope, a beacon in the darkest hour, with strength enough to cope. Guided by wisdom passed down through generations past. He shall gather loyal allies, united they shall amass. With sword in hand and armour gleaming bright, Kiran shall embark on a perilous quest, day and night. Through enchanted forests and treacherous terrain, he shall seek the means to vanquish Malachi's reign. Yet, the path ahead is fraught with danger and strife, Malachi's powers are vast, threatening Kiran's life. But in his heart burns a fire that cannot be quelled. A tenacity that shall see him through, as destiny has foretold. In the final battle between light and dark, Kiran shall face Malachi with a resolute spark. With allies by his side and courage as his guide, he shall strike down the sorcerer, breaking evil's tide. And so, the prophecy shall be fulfilled as Kiran's destiny is sealed. A young king's valour and a sorcerer's fall, Alkirk shall rejoice, united one and all.'
For some reason, when he read the words back to himself after a few times, something had struck him on the inside. All of those times that he had been thinking that he could only do this alone were him just misjudging his power- he needed his allies and friends, no matter how powerful or strong he thinks that he is on the inside.
He needed the people around him for support, he needed to channel the power of his ancestors.
If he can work, he would be able to fulfil what his entire prophecy had been telling him, he would take down Malachi once and for all and he would finally be able to be freed from the curse that had completely ruined his childhood- he needed to get rid of this as it could ruin the whole future of the country that he was sworn to protect from birth.
But one question still remained unanswered to him, where did these magical powers come from? Would he discover the truth behind his sudden new power or would that just remain a mystery?
