At school, Etzia's homeroom teacher was running late, and everyone was chatting until the teacher came. Etzia and her acquaintances were in the back seats talking about what they are good at.

Janel

She flipped open her notebook without looking at it, tapping the corner with her thumb. "I'm good at organizing. Lists, schedules, whatever. I don't mess things up."

Juda

He stretched his legs out under the desk, arms crossed loosely. "I'm good at physical stuff. Running, lifting, drills. Anything that needs strength."

Etzia She shrugged, eyes on the window for a second before looking back at them. "I notice things. Patterns. Details. That's pretty much it."

Janel She nodded once, quick and matter‑of‑fact. "Yeah, that's accurate."

Juda He tilted his head in agreement, not bothering to sit up. "Works for me."

They all settled back into their seats. Janel clicked her pen twice. Juda cracked his knuckles. Etzia traced a line on her desk with her fingertip.

A chair scraped nearby as Hayeong slid into the seat in front of them, turning halfway around. She rested her chin on her hand. Hayeong "I'm good at memorizing. Facts, dates, instructions. If I read it once, it sticks."

Janel raised an eyebrow but didn't comment. Juda shrugged like that made perfect sense.

Zeno walked over, dropped his bag on the floor with a dull thud, and sat sideways in his chair. He tapped his fingers on the desk in a steady rhythm.

Zeno "I'm good at fixing things. Mechanical stuff. If it breaks, I can probably put it back together."

Hayeong nodded. Hayeong "Yeah. You're basically a toolbox."

Zeno didn't react, just kept tapping.

The group fell quiet again. Janel clicked her pen twice. Juda leaned back further. Etzia kept tracing the same line. Hayeong stared at the ceiling. Zeno adjusted a loose screw on his desk.

Silence.

The classroom door slid open with a sharp sound. The teacher stepped in, adjusting the strap of his bag. Conversations stopped immediately.

He walked to the front, set his papers down, and looked at the class.

Mr. Silvius

"Alright. Sorry I'm late."

He didn't sound sorry — just stating it.

The classroom was silent in the way classrooms always were—orderly, attentive, every student sitting with their backs straight and their notebooks aligned to the edge of the desk. The air hummed faintly from the hologram projector, its light washing the room in pale blue.

He scanned the room once, then continued.

Mr. Silvius 's voice echoed flatly through the room as the hologram of the Light Council hovered behind him.

Mr. Silvius

"They have their own headquarters. Their own academy and they are located at Astraeus.

A few students nodded, their expressions calm, practiced. Pens moved quietly across paper.

Then Rielle spoke.

Rielle

"So... they're rich."

She didn't say it with attitude or envy—just a simple observation, stated the way someone might comment on the weather.
