It was silent. Peaceful. The boy closed his eyes, feeling at home.

But then the house appeared.

He needed to run. He needed to get away. That man was there, standing at the door, ready to strike, and he needed to run, run, run... No matter how much he told himself so, his legs stayed glued where they were. He began to tremble, to scream, but no sound came out.

Instead, he just heard that damn man's voice, over and over, as he got closer and closer:

"You live in my damn house! You will respect me and my rules!"

And no, not again, please, no, he wants to beg, he can't, he's paralyzed, mute, crazy, sane, sad, scared--

Blood around him, the remnants, hands reaching for him. No, no, no, no, nonono--

"Monster!"

The weed wacker comes crashing down, aimed for the boy's head.

Tomura gasped, shooting up in bed. He grabbed his jaw, finding his shoulders slumping in relief when no blood came off onto his hand. "Shit," he muttered, wrapping his arms around him. He was sweaty, and scared, and cold. The nightmare's details fade away to nothingness, leaving the boy clueless about what he was even shaking for. He bit his lip, hard. The coppery taste of blood filled his mouth, grounding him.

Just a dream, you idiot. Don't get so worked up. Level zero loser.

His eyes wandered to the crystal ball on his bedside table, reading the time that glowed across the surface: 3:48 AM. If he went back to sleep now,  he'd end up missing the first day of school. At least he had gotten himself a dorm room, so he wouldn't have to make the drive every time. He rubbed his eyes sleepily and glanced over at the UA uniform folded on his desk. It was clean, neat, crisp, pristine; Everything Tomura wasn't. He scowled and threw off the two-sizes-too-big T-shirt he'd worn to bed. Fear is weakness. Don't be afraid.

Akako floated above the new students with a small giggle, scanning the first years for possibly interesting people. A few kids caught her eye -- a green-haired boy with freckles, a guy with patchwork skin, a girl with a black ponytail... It looked like the new year was going to be interesting. She focused on the students, trying to keep her mind away from the thing in that room, the Bad Thing that had scared her so much.

She floated down gently, going into the ground and surging forward in the direction of one of the interesting people. She wanted to play. She popped out in front of one of the interesting people, giggling. "Hi!"

The blonde girl grinned. "Hi, hi, hi!" She bounced a little as she waved.

"What's your name?" Akako asked, a little disappointed that she didn't scare the other girl.

"I'm Toga! Himiko Toga!" the girl cheered. "What about you?"

"Akako," she provided, doing a cartwheel midair. She ended up behind Himiko and popped her head into the student's backpack. "Wow, that's a lot of sharp things!"

Toga nodded happily with a hum. "They're my collection! I don't wanna live in a dorm without them!" She began to skip in the direction of the school, Akako by her side.

"It'd be kind of sad to leave your favorite things behind," the poltergeist agreed, though the selection didn't make sense to her. "Himiko, will you play exploring with me?"
