*ੈ✩‧₊˚ ODESSA LIKED the way her life was going — apart from the ever growing feelings she still held for her ex-girlfriend — she loved not having her mother around constantly, shoving down her point of views down her throat. she loved being able to travel around again, the netball autumn season had started up again. odessa was back doing the things she loved, while trying to fight for a spot on the australian diamonds. although she most likely had one, there was never a hundred percent chance that she would have one. she just prayed.

odessa had to fight the fear in her stomach. bottle up her nerves. odessa loved going to movie world, it always had been her favourite place in the whole world. but when she asked helen and kyra to go with her. they declined, telling her she had to ask sam. in which caused odessa to roll her eyes, but follow what they were leading too.

the swifts and the matilda's sunday matches were both in queensland, it had been the only time they shared the same day match, and a match somewhere away from their home ground together. odessa spent most her time in sydney, not getting to see the matildas often. she stayed in touch with most of them, she couldn't not with kyra's constant catch ups. threatening to knock down odessa's door if she feared something was wrong.

the new weekend had been sam's and odessa first time seeing each other since mid-february. they texted often, never about anything much. more trying to keep in contact with the other. they were friends. and they both had something more important to worry about. their world cups.

but that didn't stop odessa from knocking on sam's hotel door. she wore a pair of blue jean shorts, and a yellow cropped singlet with a sun. she wore her pair of white air forces, matching it with a simple pair of black sunglasses that sat in her hair. she bit her lip, watching the handle turn. and a sam open it.

"hi" odessa softly breathed out. fighting the urges to run down the hallway, and possibly throw herself off the nearest balcony. awaiting her own death. "i know i'm not a the first face you want to see on a friday morning. but i was hoping we could—"

"sure"

odessa was taken back by sam's sudden answer "sure? just like that. . . you don't even know where we are going. i could take you to a shark tank and let the sharks eat you."

sam shrugged "if that's what you want. then let's do it. give me a second to get changed."

odessa looked around awkwardly. pushing her lips to the side. "thanks. . . don't get changed thinking we're going to a shark tank. just movie world."

sam nodded her head. she stepped away from the door, extending her arm out. odessa gave her a tight lipped smile, entering her hotel room. she took a seat on sam's bed. watching carefully as sam entered her bathroom with a change of clothes.

sam left the bathroom only minutes later. changing out of her grey sweatpants and a large black shirt into a pair of black cargos and a light brown shirt. tying her hair back into a ponytail after brushing it. "you ready?" she questioned, knowing the answer immediately. she picked up her car keys, shoving her wallet and phone into her pockets.

odessa nodded her head. standing up from sam's bed, she followed the taller brunette down the hallway. down to sam's rental car she had for a few days while up in gold coast. the pair sat in the car for a moment, sam pressing things on the cars screen. connecting bluetooth up. she gave odessa a cheesy grin "do gods work sunshine."
