Chapter 3: the Cruciatus curse

A few weeks had gone by, my feelings for Draco grew, and me and dad grew closer, everyone sees Severus Snape as a wizard who could never love, I see him as a wizard who loved me when no one else would, as for Draco, to him, I'm the only one who truly loves him. I've wanted to ask him out for a while now, but every time I do, I just bottle up my feelings, Mattheo hasn't spoken to me since his suspension ended, but I didn't care, I wasn't being battered and bruised when I asked questions about where he was

Anyway it was close to the Yule ball, everyone had been asked to go to the dance by someone, Pansy was asked by Blaize, Daphne was asked by Lorenzo and Astoria was still waiting to be asked, she wanted Draco to ask her, which is why I hated her

"Hey, Y/n" Draco whispered "Did you hear, we're doing the three unforgivable curses in Defense Against The Dark Arts?"

"No" I whispered back

"Y/n you'll smash it! You're great at spells and curses!-"

"I hope you're not talking in my class Mr Malfoy and Miss Potter" Minerva said looking down on the both of us

We both sit up straight and start grinning

When the class ends, we go to 'Defense Against The Dark Arts' and sit in our seats

"Alright students" Snape's voice boomed in the classroom "Today the ministry wants the school to start testing you on curses"

The class murmured with confusion

"First!" He slammed a book down on his desk, silencing the class "We need to make sure you know the three unforgivable curses, would anyone like to name the first one?"

Hermione raised her hand "The imperius curse," she said proudly

"Anyone else?" Snape smirked

I raised my hand

"The cruciatus curse and Avada Kadavera, the killing curse"

Snape nodded

"These are the three unforgivable curses, Imperio, Crucio and Avada Kadavera"

I fought back tears as I was reminded of the curse that killed both my parents

"Now, I know some of you in this room may be familiar with some of these curses, and possibly effected by them..."

Everyone either turned to me, Harry or Neville

"Now, it is possible that some of you in this room may be able to resist these curses, but it is rare"

Everyone lined up, some students were screaming and crying, others were pretending it didn't effect them but you could tell it did

It came up to Draco's turn

"Crucio"

Draco didn't seem entirely effected, he was definitely in pain though. After a few moments he finally broke

Then it was my turn

"Crucio!" Snape seemed to say the spell reluctantly

I felt a rush of pain flow through my blood and bones, everything aced, in my head I had memories of being abused by Mattheo, abandoned by Sirius, betrayed by Astoria and some visions that didn't seem like memories, more like bad thoughts, Draco grabbing Astoria by the hips and pulling her in, kissing her and whispering in her ear, it almost broke me but I didn't let it, but then I saw Voldemort, with his wand to Draco's head, "Avada Kadavera!" He yelled, in a flash of green light, Draco was lying on the floor lifeless, that broke me

I fell to the floor screaming and crying

"Y/n!" Draco and Snape shouted

Draco held me in his arms while Snape ran to go and get someone to help

"Y/n, w- what happened?!" He said, his voice shaking

I cried on his shoulder

Everyone tried to get me to tell them what I saw, but I couldn't

About a month after, the Yule ball was coming around, two people from each house were asked to sing a song since the band had cancelled their gig due to personal reasons

Harry and Ginny were singing for Griffindor, Luna and a dark haired boy were singing for Ravenclaw, Cedric and some girl who fancied him were singing for Hufflepuff, me and Draco were singing for Slytherin
