(Jelani was chillin in the room with Lisa, both have one ear bud in and were bobbing to the music. They were soon interrupted by Sean coming in looking devastated as he laid his head down on his bed.)
Jelani: (Takes out ear bud) Sean, what's the matter?
Sean: ( sighs ) Dad... has to go to work.
Lisa: No, he didn't.
Jelani: Daaaaaaad!!!
(Cut to a few minutes later where Terry opens the door and his mom is there with a stern loon on her face.)
Grandam: It was short notice, and I didn't have much at the house, but I whipped up a little something. (Holds up a container of food)
Terry: Thanks for doing this last minute, Mama. I owe you.
(Grandma walks in while pulling a carton of food with her. Sean and Jelani are sitting at the stair case, both with dissapointed looks on their faces.)
Grandma: You don't owe me anything. You owe these kids.
Sean/Jelani: Hi, Grandma.
Grandma: No hugs, or kisses, or anything?
Terry: Listen, big man. I wouldn't be doing this unless it was an absolute emergency. I just gotta make this run, but when I get back, we're gonna take you to Splashtown no matter what. Okay?
Sean: Mm-hmm.
(Lisa comes back downstairs, but she didn't say anything, but grabbed Sean.)
Terry: Lisa...
(Lisa takes Sean back upstairs while Jelani is still leaning on the wall on the stairs.)
Terry: Jelani..
Jelani: (Walks back upstairs) Have a safe run, dad.
(Terry looks down in shame as he knows his kids don't understand how important his job is and what he actually does. Cut to the kids room, where Sean has head in a pillow, Lisa is on her phone, and Jelani is Shadow Boxing.)
Sean: Dad's boss is so mean! Why do they make him work so much?
Lisa: Don't let Dad off the hook. He doesn't always have to say yes, Sean.
Jelani: Amen to that.
Sean: I don't wanna stay here. ( muffled ) I wanna go with him.
Lisa: Wait. What'd you say?
Sean: I wish we could go with Dad to work. That's what I really want for my birthday weekend.
Lisa: (Chuckles ) Oh, man. He'd be so mad. ( gasps ) Hmm.
Jelani: Oh no, I know that look. We are not doing this, (Closes his eyes) -no way- (Opens them and sees the door opened and his siblings are gone.) Hey, wait up! (Follows them)
(Cut to the 3 kids outside where they're hiding behind the trashcans. Terry is putting some stuff in his car, before walking back over to the gate. This gave the kids the opportunity to hurry over to the vehicle. Jelani opened the trunk and they were bet with weird cases. Sean and Lisa immediately took out the cases and put them on the ground. Sean's case opened up and they saw weird small blue orbs.)
Sean: Whoa!
Jelani: (Picked one up) ( orb crackling )
Lisa: Dad really needs to stop buying all these tacky decorations.
Jelani: I don't know, I think it looks kinda cool.
Terry: Okay. Bye, Mom.
Lisa: Get rid of the case.
