Walk on the Water

Chapter 11

Sam rushed up the high wire where the acrobats were waiting.

The head acrobat, dressed in light blue with her short red hair and petite stature, shook the girl's hand and said "Welcome, m'dear. My name is Izadora. How do you do?"

"How do you do, Izadora? Sergeant Sam Pan."

"And these are my cohorts in acrobatics" said Izadora. 

The other acrobats had dark skin and were dressed in pink, green and yellow.

"I'm Majestic Molly" said the one in yellow.

"I'm Luminous Luna" said the one in green primly.

"And I'm Juicy Joy!" squealed the one in pink. 

"Hmm... then I guess that makes me... Sizzling Sam!" said Sam.

"I like it!" said Izadora.

"So. What are the high wire rules?" said Sam.

"Well. Ordinarily, our main rule is to always have a safety net underneath you" said Luminous Luna.

"But given what we've heard about you, you don't need one" giggled Juicy Joy. 

"For now, we'd like to see what you can do" said Izadora. 

"With pleasure" said Sam with bravado. 

She got onto the trapeze and swung on it.

When she swung to the highest height, she let go and flew around the tent. 

The acrobats were in awe when she returned to the swing and landed on the platform. 

"Ta-da!" Sam sang.

"That was incredible, m'dear!" said Izadora.

"Indeed it was. That high swing was quite the climax" said Majestic Molly. 

"It's the perfect act for you. And I think I know what you could wear to make the flight extra climactic" said Izadora.

She presented Sam with a hat stacked with fruits of all kinds.

"Gawrsh! Is that real fruit?" said Sam.

"Indeed it is, sister" said Luminous Luna.

"Put it on; let's see how you look" said Juicy Joy. 

Sam put the hat on and it did make her head look like a basket of fruit. 

"Lovely, lovely. All you need to do is hide your hair and you'll be perfect for Thursday's performance" said Izadora.

"This is gonna be awesome!" Sam cheered.
