Dangerous Thief

Chapter 1-8

~Nathan's POV~

"Wake.... Up..!'

"Nngh... What..?"

"WAKE UP!"

"GAH!" Opening my eyes in surprise, my eyes met with the one who disturb my peaceful sleep, it was none other than my uncle. Who seem to be in panic.

"C- calm down..! Why are you waking me up in the middle of a night?!"

"Everyone.... Everyone is gone!" He responded in panic.

"W- what?!" I immediately get up and get out of the tent. The moon is hanging at the top of the campsite, the rest of the tents is empty, and there are no traces of the others.

Turning around to look at my uncle. "Where did everybody go..?"

"I'm just as confused as you. When I wake up and decided to take a short walk outside, everyone is gone. We need to find out how they are gone and why."

We decided to look for any clues around the camp. After a while, uncle Astrum decided that we should split up.

One thing I would expect is that my parents tent is messy on the inside, but apparently, there is no sign of struggle. There's no way everyone would left me and uncle Astrum alone without.

I decided to do a thorough investigation to other nearby tents. There's still no traces. Everything is in place, there are no signs of struggles, where did everybody go..?

Something is definitely not right.

After a while, I hear my uncle calling me. "Nathan, I found a clue!"

I immediately runs to where he was and found him looking at the ground.

"What did you find?"

Uncle Astrum pointed at the ground, there are footprints leading towards the forests. "It's possible that this person kidnapped everyone without making a sound. And they seem to be going to the forests."

"We must make haste, who knows what this person is going to do to them."

We walk cautiously deeper into the forest, there is nothing to Illuminate our path other than the moon, that is slowly getting covered by the tree branches as we go deeper.

A strong feeling of unease fills my body as I grip my uncle's coat tighter. "Do you think everyone will be okay..?"

"I think they are fine... But if we didn't find them sooner, everyone are going to be gone for good."

I have a slight suspicions, why me and uncle Astrum are the only one to not get kidnapped? Surely the kidnapper can get me easily, seeing that I'm an easy target.

Yes, that is highly suspicious, why bother to kidnap everyone, but only leave me and my uncle alone?

Uncle Astrum suddenly stopped and places a finger on my lips. "Don't make any sound, I can hear something in a distance..."

And he is right, the bushes started to shake but immediately stopped like when it started. The feeling of the cold air brushing against my skin sends me shivers.

I hear a howl from a distance, intensifying my grip on my uncle who walked to the bush slowly. Once within our distance, he slowly push the leaves away, only to find a wolf laying down, glaring at us.

"Well, it's not what we want to look for..." We decided to leave the wolf alone and continue our trek deeper into the wilderness.

Feeling very anxious and afraid, my legs trembled a bit for each steps. I can feel my uncle give he a pat in the head to reassure me that I'm fine.
