it was blaise! well blazed (iykyk) in my eyes. my family were close friends with blaise's and that led to an unbreakable friendship between us. it's been forever since i saw him because the dark lord has been privately mentoring me rather than joining meetings. blaise brought me in a tight hug and spun me around. i caught the scowls on ron and harrys' face. hermoine looked annoyed while the twins had an unreadable expression. the only one i could put my finger on is- jealousy?

"blaise darling it's been far too long!" i said in a faux posh accent and we giggled like kids.

"i know. i heard what happened by the way. you're always welcomed at my house just so you know." i was about to reply when harry grabbed my hand. "she's already fine living by herself. if you don't mind we need to get our hogwarts school stuff." as i was getting dragged away i heard blaise shout over the crowd, "you're going to be at hogwarts? i'll see you y/n!" i had a wide grin even as the group started interrogating me.

"is blaise your boyfriend?" "no he isn't"

"why are you so close with him?" "family friends."

"he's a horrible person y/n, stay far away from him." "what? no he's not."

my head was spinning trying to keep up with the amount of questions being asked. ron was about to ask another one when hermoine suddenly yelled and flailed her arms. "stop! it's not up to us who y/n is friends with. she can make her own decisions." i heard soft murmurs of agreement throughout the group. i thanked hermoine and assured her that i was fine.

we continued strolling through diagon alley searching for a place to eat when i froze in my tracks. those familiar voices. my parents.

"y/n is that you?" i turned around and dropped the books i was holding. the group noticed this and turned around. they looked at me with worry and pity in their eyes. i prepared myself internally for what was about to happen. my mom rushed over to me and and gave a fake smile before picking up my books. "y/n you've been so rude, barging into these peoples lives. we've been worried sick." i winced at the tone in her voice. to any other person she would've sounded like a good mother- one who was actually concerned. i wish that were true. my dad put a hand on my shoulder and threw money at my friends. i gasped and wanted to apologise but i was apparated back to the manor.

the next morning i woke up with bruises all over my body. it ached to move but the only thing that kept me going was knowing that today i'll be leaving to hogwarts. i hope the twins and the trio didn't hate me after what happened. i would apologise and we would all be friends again! i packed my trunk feeling more determined than ever. i went downstairs feeling motivated when the sight of my parents crushed my mood. my father sat down on the couch reading a newspaper and cigar in hand. my mother, in the kitchen was cooking something that smelled amazing along with the few house elves we owned. my dad spotted me standing silently and passed me a small clock. "it's a portkey. you'll be going there yourself, your mother and i are too busy. the ticket is on the table. don't cause trouble y/n or that'll be the last straw." i cowered at his tone and nodded meekly. so the meal my mother is preparing seems to be a celebratory breakfast because of my departure. in my many years of living in this lifeless manor, not once has my mother cooked something. i held the clock tightly and gripped the ticket in hand- partly because of nerves and excitement at the same time.

changes of plan. i wanted to sit with perhaps the trio or twins in order to apologise and become friends again but i ended up finding blaise who dragged me to sit with him and his friends. i ended up being acquainted with 4 boys whose names were draco, theo, mattheo and enzo. i also ended up being quite close to a sweet girl named pansy.
"it's so nice not being the only girl in the group now." pansy whispered to me and we childishly giggled.

all of them were familiar with me and my family as i am seen as lord voldemorts' apprentice.

"what's it like being so close with him?" draco asked me, his eyes filled with curiosity and admiration. i thought hard and long about what to answer. the dark lord isn't in fact monster looking but instead trapped in his 16 year old self. he's devilishly handsome and alluring. his aura is demanding of respect and his eyes are cold. once in a while when i make jokes of draco's father; lucius, i can see a small smile form on his face. i don't fancy the dark lord but i feel somewhat connected to him. no one has ever seen his face before as he wears a mask in public and during meetings. i am also one of the very few- if not the only one who can call him by his real name. tom. he insists he allows me to hold these privileges as i am his successor.

"he's cold and rude. he looks like a beast under that mask of his. i have nightmares of his face every night. but he's a respectable man. his ideologies and perspectives intrigue me. his lessons and lectures on the dark arts are calculative and easy to understand." i saw pansys' face contort into horror when i insulted tom. i chuckled inwardly when i saw her face relax as i continued speaking.
"you're lucky y/n. you get to be so close to him. i dream of being in a high position like yours. maybe then my parents will be proud of me." pansy sighed while hugging my arm. "pansy even if you were the dark lord himself your parents would still hate you." pansy playfully smacked mattheo in the arm as i doubled over laughing.

the whole train ride consisted of mattheo trying to 'rizz me up' in which he fails horribly when theo smacks him in the head. blaise is attempting to tell us of his summer rendezvous to which we all cringe at and enzo begs blaise to not speak further.

a few minutes later a slytherin prefect came in our booth and informed us that we are arriving soon. pansy and i changed in the booth while the boys went to the bathrooms.

"i can tell blaise likes you." i paused and raised an eyebrow. "pansy you're delusional, no he doesn't." pansy shook her head and exclaimed, "it's true! he talks about you all the time. honestly we all thought you were a figment of his imagination or something by the way he talks about you." i tried to suppress my blush and waved her off. "you're crazy." pansy looked at me then shrugged with a smirk, "believe what you want."

the boys came in and we munched on the snacks we bought from the tray until we could see the castle from our train window. i gaped in awe at the scenery. it genuinely looked majestic. i never thought in my wildest dreams that i'd be able to see a sight as breathtaking as hogwarts. "bet you never had this in durmstrang hm?" i heard theo tease beside me as we sat in a carriage pulled by thestrals. creatures that i grew accustomed to seeing after i was forced to murder a muggleborn as part of my mentoring sessions with tom. i nodded excitedly and explained how durmstrang looked like. "it's not as inviting and warm as hogwarts is. durmstrang is eerie and the people who go there are worse." my eyebrows furrowed as i recalled my horrible memories in my old school. "should've come earlier ey?" mattheo nudged me and i chuckled while agreeing. "y/n why did you even come to hogwarts after all this time? it can't just be because you miss me." blaise teased.

i decided to tell the truth as i didn't really mind. well, it gained some very...positive reactions? "that's my girl! you gotta train me how to fight." mattheo exclaimed putting a hand around me. "bet she was beaten up at the end of it." draco smirked and theo chuckled. enzo and pansy however seemed opposed to it. "you could've gotten hurt y/n!" pansy shook me back and forth. enzo laid a hand on my shoulder, "i'm not saying that the fight you had in durmstrang should be the last one but it's not advisable to be fighting in hogwarts." i sighed and replied, "yeah i know. i just lost it. she was badmouthing my family and i'm not taking that level of disrespect."

after multiple attempts to find a woman named 'professore mcgonagall', she ended up finding me first. she took me to headmaster dumbledore's office to be privately be sorted- per my mothers' request. i sat on a run down brown stool that creaked everytime i squirmed on it. on my head was a talking hat? i was shocked to say the least when it started listing out my qualities. "you are an interesting child...cunning, loyal and brave. you've seen things. things even adults can't dare to face. hmm...you belong in...SLYTHERIN!" i winced as the hat shouted.

i thought about what the hat said to me and it ruined my mood instantly. does it know anything else about me? about my life? what if it tells the headmaster!? i was panicking the whole way to the great hall. i bursted open and cringed realising that i just interrupted the sorting session.

could this first day get any worse?
