We fly as fast as we can, trying to make it to Berserker Island in time to warn Dagur and Heather, or at least help them.
The fleet comes in sight before the island does, why do they got to have so many ships? Luckily, Dagur and his tribe are holding their own for now. The Singetails refuse to fly to the island, probably because of the King of Dragon's influence, so they opt to fly up.
Perfect.
We all fly up faster, our dragons having no trouble with the height, and then we dive down, firing at as many flyers as we can to free the Singetails.
'Krogan, this ends now!' Hiccup yells at Krogan, Midnight and me covering his back and shooting the flyers that come up behind us while he shotts the two remaining ones, Astrid knocks off the last, and Ruff and Tuff make a wall of gas that they explode, forcing Krogan to a different position as he dodges.
'Yeah! How do you like us now, Krogey?'
'Here's a little singe to go along with that tail.'
I roll my eyes slightly at Tuffnut's joke but can't help the small smile on my lips as we all surround Krogan. We got him now! Then he realizes he's defeated and flies away, and we... let him?
I look after him a little confused as he flies back to Johann and the fleet, then to Hiccup, but he's already cheering with the others and flying down to the stables where we meet up with Heather. I listen with one ear to how Hiccup explains to her that they are attacking because the King of Dragons lives under this island, while also taking care of Midnight and preparing her for the next battle.
'The King of Dragons is a Berserker. Ha! It makes perfect sense to me. I mean, what else would he be?' Dagur yells excitedly, drawing my attention more to the conversation. I quickly check the saddle straps again on Midnight and listen to the twins explaining to Astrid why it's not the King of Dragons but their Uncle Fenris.
I know I didn't fully follow the conversation but... this is weird... right?
I look from Minight to the twins getting lectured by Astrid and then back at Midnight. She also looks at them weirdly. I silently pat her head. 'Same girl.'
We watch Tuffnut cross his arms in frustration and frown. 'Is that what you'd have us do? Take away our creative minds and be like the rest of you simpletons? Okay, fine. We'll try it your way. What do you think Johann's doing right now, sis?'
He turns to Ruffnut, who seems just as irritated. 'Uh, he probably sent a second fleet to attack from the south as the first fleet re-engages from the north.'
Wait, what?
'Why would you say such a thing?' Tuffnut continues to be irritated. I quickly run to the nearest edge. Oh- by Thor's hammer!
'Because that's what they're doing. I mean, that is them, right?' Ruffnut points over her shoulder.
'What the...' Hiccup runs towards them to check.
'Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but here as well.' I chime in.
Tuffnut places his hands on his hips. 'You see? You see what happens when we get real? Things get real.' He says dramatically. Both of them snapping their fingers a few times in some kind of threatening manner. Okayyy... Everyone their own way of dealing with an attack... I guess...
I glance at the group, at Dagur and Heather ready to defend their people, at the riders still cautious. I don't understand why we let Krogan go. I could have shot him from his dragon, we could have killed him, ended this. Why-
