Remus was absolutely infatuated with the obsidian-eyed boy currently sitting next to him.
Remus: He's just so brilliant and perfect. I should really have a talk with him about those injuries though. I probably shouldn't intrude on his personal life. But what if he gets even more hurt? Okay, I'll go and talk with him later at night when everyone else is asleep.
'Earth to Remus.' Severus raised an eyebrow.
'Sorry,' he snapped back to reality, 'I don't know how you did it so quickly, and you did that non-verbally, I'm not sure Dumbledore could have done that when he was our age.'
'It was nothing, show me how you do it and maybe I can know why you can't cast the spell.'
Remus nodded, 'Windgardium Leviosa.' and swished and flicked his wand.
'Oh, I know, it's Wingardium Leviosa not Windardium Leviosa.' He pointed to a part in the Charms book. 'See, it's a 'g' not a 'd'.'
'Thanks. Wingardium Leviosa' and repeated the same action with his wand. The feather moved a bit.
'Good job. Try another time.'
'Wingardium Leviosa.' this time the feather floated in the air for thirty seconds.
'That was progress.'
'Mhm, Wingardium Leviosa.' and this time the feather stayed in the air until Remus pointed his wand down.
'Nice work, Mr. Lupin.' Professor Flitwick said. 'Five points to Gryffindor. Two points to Gryffindor for Mr. Snape's eagerness to help his fellow students.'
Remus and Severus beamed with pride. When the lesson was over, James, Sirius and Lily rushed up to their desk while the two were still busy packing.
'Sev, I never knew you were so good at Charms. That's was amazing.' Lily chirped.
James patted Severus on the back, 'Yeah, you're a prodigy.'
Severus flinched slightly at the touch, still a bit unsure of his feelings towards the messy-haired boy, but no one seemed to notice.
Remus casted a quick Tempus, 'Guys, not to ruin the moment here but we need to get to Tranfiguration in under five minutes.'
The kids rushes off to Transfiguration where McGonagall was nowhere to be found, only a cat on the teachers' table.
'We were ten seconds away from being late.' Severus checked his muggle watch that Lily gave him for his tenth birthday.
They sat down at the front where there were, conveniently, five seats in a row. Severus sat in between Remus and Lily while Sirius sat next to Remus with James. A minute or so goes by.
Severus, who was looking at the cat on the table: When is she going to transform back and teach her students?
Sirius whispered into James' ear, whispering isn't what he actually did as the entire class heard him but he tried to whisper, 'Hey mate, the Transfiguration teacher is our Head, right? I saw her at breakfast, she looks old, like so old, wonder how long she's been teaching here. My mother and father told me that she taught them, so she must have been here long. Maybe ages.'
It was at this moment that the Professor got back to her human form. Sirius stared gobsmacked at her while some of the others awed in wonder.
She walked up to Sirius and pointedly looked at him before say, 'Twenty points from Gryffindor and detention for two days at eight p.m. starting today, for speaking badly about a teacher, Mr. Black.'
James chuckled and ribbed him after McGonagall turned round, 'The first one to get detention. Good job.'
Sirius rolled his eyes and blushed a bit from the embarrassment.
Professor McGonagall announced, 'Good morning, everyone. I am professor McGonagall, Head of Gryffindor and Deputy Headmistress, also your Transfiguration teacher for the next seven years. Today, we are going to start with something easy. We are going to transfigure a match into a needle.'
The rest of the day passed by uneventfully. As Severus ate his dinner with his new found friends, he started to ponder how much better his life would have been if he had been sorted into a different house in his first life.
Maybe he would have had more than one friend, not that he didn't like Lily, he just wanted to spend time with someone else at times. He smiled softly at the scene before his eyes, his former enemies chatted happily with one another, trying to add him into the conversation.
